you like because he is guy?

Firstly, the DOF. Compact Digital Camera sensor is so small, the DOF is small, most of the thing will be in focus, especially the wider you shoot... With this, surely compact digital camera is easier to take photo, that's why call "point and shoot", nothing much to worry about. With DSLR, the DOF is huge, easily make mistake of out of focus. You need to check and make sure you focus correctly.
Fill Flash, or use reflector, etc.

If not, expose the subject, the background will be overexpose; OR shoot HDR, or manual HDR if your camera doesn't suport/have auto...  Should use Calvin's D5100 to try...

It's not DOF that creates this, it's the tele focal length that creates a perspective that make the background seem nearer/bigger relative to the subject in front. smile.gif

d51000 is the upgraded version of the d5000
d7000 is the upgraded version of d90

each camera will get about 2-3 years revision.

all depends on what you wanna do with the camera, for some d90 specs good enuff and has more advantage over d5100, for others d5100 is a new model so considered up to date camera. the d90 has not been officially archived- meaning discontinued, but i believe it will be soon.

if you are keen on the d5100, pm me  biggrin.gif

hey thanks for the reply. seems like it's not really the best time to buy one right? due to the limited amount stock. situation getting better in a month maybe?

currently bodies made in thailand are very low in stock, coz nikon has to fullfill worldwide demands, where there is more demand and more money to be made, more stocks will be sent there.

FOr now be prepared to pay 200-300 above 'market' price, if new, used ones not many as it will be taken up in no time unless camera has big problems. Used ones with local warranty is a bonus, you get a much lower price, with guaranteed warranty from manufacturer

situation may get better when demand lowers, wait another year maybe.....

DOF thinner means less area in focus. If you're using f/2.8, on a DSLR and on a digital camera sensor, it's a big difference. On a DSLR, you can get nice bokeh, subject separation, but on the digital camera, you hardly get that (same 35mm focal length that is). So, sometimes you can see the difference of a picture easily whether it's taken with DSLR or digital camera.

The right way to do it is just to concentrate on the face. Not smoothen everything else.
Errr... Not every PnS has this AutoISO feature though.
Neat. Side question is how do we know that the video was made using a D4 and not a 5DMkII instead? Does a video have taggings like EXIF?

I also notice some underwater shots. They already have underwater casing for D4?  hmm.gif
*
not all have AutoISO but most should have for newer PnS's.

I was thinking the same thing. How can we be sure its not 5dMkii hehe. still d4 is way out of my budget, nice to see but not going to aim for it. Maybe some other ppl will upgrade from d700 and hopefully sell to me the d700 cheap cheap! thumbup.gif

but you have to remember all of them are looking for publicity. non have actually used it in the field for a period of time. they can talk until the cows fly also no use if they do not own and use one for a while. lets sit back and watch.

You need large DOF to do this kind of special effects. That's how Hollywood people filmed Attack of the 50-foot woman....Because they used such a small aperture to make sure the "giant" and the actor are both in focus,
they used more than 100kW of lights!
