Added on February 7, 2012, 9:49 amOne tale says it all: About 18 months after he bought his first Campanola, Behm purchased an A. Lange & Söhne Double Split. “It arrived on a weekend,” he says. “I wore it to work on Monday. I so missed my Campanolas that I ran home from work at lunch and put the $100,000 Double Split back in the safe never to wear it again,”
he says. Ultimately, he sold the watch, which he would have once regarded as sheer perfection. “It had all the things I like,” Behm recalls. Its only flaw was that it wasn’t a Campanola.  sweat.gif

Mechanical watches are not expensive at all, just take a look at the Seiko thread. Many Seiko automatics available in the sub-500 range. Orient also offers automatics for a similar price point.

For Swiss made watches you are limited to mostly quartz. Brands like Tissot, Hamilton, Victorinox etc offer entry level models.

If you don't mind German-made watch with a Citizen movement, can consider Laco pilot watch. I have one for sale though you'll have to wait until late Apr to get the watch smile.gif

thanks mate for the info, yeah there are mechanical which are within my budget but I've not seen any with sapphire crystal. I'm expecting a quartz due to my budget and requirement for sapphire coz I'm a little paranoid seeing the watch face getting any scratch lol...

would love yo check out your laco, PM me when you think it's ready ya? I assume it's with a mineral crystal?

There are very seldom watches with same dial but different brands. So far what I saw was one company wanted to put a model by another company into their product line but refuse to produce on their own, B&R with Sinn. OR r u referring to similar instead of same?

Campanola, like Eco-drive, is another Citizen product line for high end quartz watches with great craftsmanship.

Campanola is citizen's luxury line, much like Grand Seiko /Credor for Seiko.

whats the exact model number? Radiomir is on alot of series.
at 17K I think its something like this? not if it base off Swiss Unitas, it does not hack, cannot stop second hand. Swiss Unitas only cost ~US$200. Paying $17K, U are paying alot for the brand.

iirc all Laco on miyota movement is on mineral.

sapphire crystal watch prices are generally higher. 400-500 rm no way u'll get sapphire.
u can find sapphire coated ones if u're lucky

Yup Laco with Miyota movements come with mineral glass. So far I've found mineral glass to be pretty scratch resistant, as long as you don't abuse your watch.

Whoa, didn't expect Campanolas to cost >3k USD. The craftsmanship is impressive but can't say I will pay that amount of money for a quartz happy.gif

Campanolas focus on the dial manufacturing movement is secondary, the Jap artisan working on it have 30-50yrs of experience. many work on the dial lacquering with their bear fingers. Alot of the 60s-70s yr old artisan don't have fingerprint on the fingers they work extensive with.

I understand what you mean. People look at different aspects when buying a watch, type of movement is just one of the many considerations. If I owned a Campanola I would appreciate it more for its extrinsic attributes, like a piece of art.

Steinhart AD in SEA is Gnomon Watches located in SG, you can google for them. Alternative is purchase through Steinhart official website (slightly cheaper if not mistaken).
