Hey guys, I have a question.. If I wanna replace my current watch glass (mineral glass) with a new sapphire glass that is scratch-proof, where can I get it done in KL/PJ? And roughly how much would it cost? And is it risky towards my watch? Any feedback and help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! smile.gif
*
what was brand is it?

the hardest part about this would be sourcing the sapphire glass itself (unless its a seiko, cos there are quite a few ppl online who do sell). installing it should be straight forward, using a crystal press. watch shops who repair can do this.

not risky if done right.

LOL the first 3 post got absolutely nothing to do with the thread... heck not even regular thread poster to start with  doh.gif

On topic, getting annoyed that despite Msia supposedly to be tax free for watches, I'm still getting cheaper prices down in Singapore!  mad.gif

hehe. all i know seikos are cheaper there! wub.gif hope to go down again for xmas. haha

im not 100% sure if they have replacement sapphire glass for mineral crystal watches, normally they shud have replacements for those models that come standard with sapphire.

you can try to ask shops where they carry replacement sapphire glass, which may fit the size of your watch?

Apparently this is due to the fact that although watches are tax free in Malaysia, watch parts are not. I believe bracelets fall under that category too hence the high price.

dang. that's a bummer sad.gif

my brother bought the blue 1, rma after 1 week, the bezel color faded, and when you shake the watch, some loose inside.  sweat.gif

this is horrible news. rclxub.gif oh well, from what i heard, they used a new movement, C10 i think. there's some plastic parts in there. brows.gif

Went away from LYN for the long weekend and I missed out on all the action?? laugh.gif

Anyway, TLDRs aside, year-end holiday season just around the corner, anyone expecting any big purchases soon? brows.gif
Time to start spreading some poison perhaps laugh.gif

after searching high and low, for a military watch, i think the Laco Marine Luminous (miyota movement) would suit my budget and thirst for one. ruled out the steinhart, as i've got the russion aviator.

but is the Miyota auto movement something to be happy with? not much info i could find on it. good work horse? cos that would be just fine for me tongue.gif

pics from WUS for eyecandy.

i was kinda looking out for a pilot watch feel, so the aviator kinda sits well at the moment. im still very inclined to get a steinhart as its a swiss piece like u said tongue.gif hehe. and thanks for the links dude. didnt know its by citizen. nice.

@ck77
ah, nice...with all the seiko autos i have, non-hacking seems to be the norm. haha.

@Chinoz
HAHAHA! if i get a person glaring at me or cursing me i'll know its YOU! laugh.gif

over all i think its a nice piece..something i dont have yet. reasonably priced also.

Re Miyota movement, ck77 is right, rotor is a bit noisy, and the second hand has known to have a 'stutter' issue (luckily mine is fine).

With Laco now charging shipping fees, I think it would be worth to consider Steinhart.
*
oh? the second hand has a little stutter? the sweep isnt very smooth you mean?

laco's store is charging shipping? i think gnomon is still free. hmm.gif will check...i wont be heading down SG this month sad.gif so no chance to go gnomon. cry.gif
