ESPNEWS becomes part of the family

Malaysia - ESPNEWS, previously available only for Astro's Sports Pack customers, will now be available to Astro's Family Pack customers, enabling it to attain a 50% penetration into the market.

Astro's Family pack reaches 3 million subscribers in the market, providing  ESPN Star Sports, a much larger audience base.

According to Adam Zecha (pictured), executive vice president, head of sales, ESPN Star Sports, with this new initiative, ESPNEWS will extend its reach to a significantly larger and broader audience covering more viewer demographics than ever before on ASTRO's Family Pack.

"This heightens the opportunity for advertisers to reach out to an exponentially larger audience base and a wider variety of viewer profiles across Malaysia, and we believe this will be a considerable distinction for potential advertisers when we compare ESPNEWS against the competitive landscape for the news genre."

ESPNEWS' current viewership stands at 3.8 million, a number that is likely to go up significantly once the channel becomes part of the Family Pack from 1 March, 2012.
Zecha added: "We're delighted to have a committed long-time partner in Astro that shares our vision of serving Malaysian sports fans, and this new initiative that promises to reach more sports fans on Astro's platform."

Celestial & KIX HD

Hong Kong – Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) is launching two HD channels – Celestial Movies HD (CM HD) and KIX HD, in Malaysia on DTH platform Astro, on March 1.

Malaysia becomes the first market in the region to carry CM HD, and the second market for KIX HD following the channel’s Singapore launch in November 2011.

Celestial Movies HD offers first run and exclusive Chinese and Asian films as well as all-time favorites. KIX HD features five distinct programming pillars: fight events, action series, action reality, action movies and a late-night block of thriller movies.

The two channels will be available on the Astro B.yond HD platform via Channel 309 and Channel 729, respectively.

Infact Espn is a free channel only on astro it was in sports pack,nothing exciting though!

We hope the schedule wll be like spore KIX and not another malaysian version.

SD: WATV ceased, B4U ceased (replace with Astro Bella)

For me, this two channels are no reasons for me to go back. All the shows I loved have moved on onto channels that Astro dun have.

ESPN means nothing to me. And Chinese movies? I'm banana. Can't speak Mandarin and Cantonese, no interest in these movies as well.

Assteruk will not be welcomed back into my house.

Many are like u,including me too who share the opinion that asstro does not actually carry the best channels, there are still channels of class out there! for many asstro is tolerated NOT accepted !It remains strong  with  BN behind it,with BN helping it to take over and control the nation, as for  unifi nothing as changed still moving like a snail without even full  2mbps streamyx! ABN only time wl tell!If ABN comes strong, with at least 100 to 200 channels, I feel asstro is finished at least the monopoly wld end

lul i still want internet monopoly 2 end faster...i can live without assteruk but i cant live without faster internet 4 sure i got 2 many 10gb movies piling up now
