You can also get RTM HD from UHF, but you need a DVB-T2 decoder. Good luck finding one tho, TVs that only come with DVB-T1 are just starting to show up on the market :/

Even I don't have a DVB-T2 decoder.

They should simulcast RTM HD in DVB-T1. It can be done, Australia is using DVB-T1 for HD.

AS for ABN, I hope it publishes a channel list soon so I can decide if I should buy a HDMI switch.

Eh, I already said bye-bye to Astro in December 2010. Remember, removing BBC Entertainment from the lineup made me extremely bitter. AC Nielsen? Screw them. People in the US hate their parent company, Nielsen Media. And I hate them because they made me lose access to Doctor Who.

Also, salesman buat janji kosong.

TM is at least better, most channels not Malaysianized. But they still don't have BBC Entertainment.

Those ports are disabled to read any ext-HDD

If you need to record, either you need a PVR or a DVRecorder (media players that records)
*
Actually, it is possible. But you still need to pay AssThrow RM10 a month for the function and you need to go look for a particular hard disk model (WD Passport AV 320GB) because it only works with that one type of hard disk. Since that HDD model is now obsolete, it's a hassle to do so.

Assteruk is really greedy and/or stupid. Should make the decoder work with any hard disk, not just WD Passport AV...

One thing I hate about fiber optic tho: slow rollout. Wait for UniFi for over a year before they finally come. I thought ABN use C-Band or encrypted DVB-T like what I saw on a website. If they use Fiber, then they're sure to fail unless they also piggyback on TM's existing fiber, and even then they still cannot get as far as Assteruk. I really cannot see how they can promise lightning fast rollout if it even takes TM over one year just to come to Klang, and even now coverage in rest of Malaysia is still s#!t. ABN will fold up before they can even leave Puchong.

I also sick of Malaysianized offerings already. And Astro already have local in house channel. When I tune in to Disney, I want US shows. I dun want more local shows.

QUOTE(nujikabane @ Feb 2 2012, 11:35 PM)
Just wondering, do you mean by record/watch 1 channel at a time?
*
Assteruk PVR B.yond has dual tuner. Normal B.yond only has one tuner. One tuner record, the other tuner watch TV. Or both tuner can record, or both tuner can be used for watching two channels using Picture-in-picture.

QUOTE(nujikabane @ Feb 2 2012, 11:35 PM)
unless you have those fancy TVs that have multiple windows to watch channels simultaneously
(& I wonder if that TV even exist, LOL)
*
I have one of those TV from the analog era. The TV has two tuners and can receive two channels at the same time, showing one channel as main and another channel in a small window. So I can confirm it exists

Actually, I think you can only. Dish network users can. I dun have PVR, I in fact already cancelled my Assteruk. I only have a nonworking normal B.yond decoder with the CAM card returned.

It's probably just Assteruk limiting their firmware for the evulz if cannot tho.

More "Moneycome"!!! A wolf in sheep's clothing thingey? Haha!

Now that I think about it, more like dirty tactic to fight UniFi HyppTV and upcoming ABN. Since if you get UniFi, TM give free access to 20 basic channels. Although you have to pay monthly for the Internet, the basic channels are free.

I think UniFi are of little concern to them as of now since you still need to pay for the Internet tho- I suspect their target victim is ABN.

They've done this dirty tactic before... Free decoder and installation when MITV came up to challenge them. Remember that? Remember what happen?

They really dun have to worry tho- ABN relying on fiber optic means that their roll out will be so slow people will get tired of waiting and abandon them before they can even leave Puchong.

Mitv could hv given astro a good shake ,but it wound up after getting what it wanted!the last hope to make things better for all lies on  ABN!

Agreed! Slow pace = people lose patience = hype backlash.

The problem is, Njoi channels are blah. I get better shows on Youtube.

Astro wld say...
"That 1-time payment for decoder, sat dish & installation....
After that we got nothing....not even 1 sen!!
How to survive doing biznes like dat?"

*
Njoi is just a gimmick- once you get njoi, they'll then slowly coax you to take other packages. And before you know it, you'll have bought a superpack and wasting hundreds of dollars a month like water.

Unifi got 3

The rest? brows.gif

How many of these are actually available on Assteruk? hmm.gif

Hint: TVNHD is a UniFi channel, not an Assteruk channel.

We hope the schedule wll be like spore KIX and not another malaysian version.

For me, this two channels are no reasons for me to go back. All the shows I loved have moved on onto channels that Astro dun have.

ESPN means nothing to me. And Chinese movies? I'm banana. Can't speak Mandarin and Cantonese, no interest in these movies as well.

Assteruk will not be welcomed back into my house.

I'll never go back to Assteruk ever again.

I cancelled my subscription in December 2010. Bills all paid off. They ask that I return my cam card or they will charge me RM80. So I did. I mailed it back to them by registered post and even double-checked with them to see if the card reached them. Case closed.

One year plus no problem.

Then on Friday they have the nerve to send me lawyer letter saying I never return cam card and owe them RM80.

A quick phone call to them netted me an apology, but if they dare kacau me again, will take them to court. You tarik my BBC Entertainment (AC Nielsen. oh you mean those f**ktards whose parent company Nielsen Media got caught faking survey results in the US) . No other way to get Doctor Who, especially after the MCMC FS internet censorship block. You did not deliver the channels you and your salesman promised. Now you want to sue me even though I settled everything.

I did once plan to go back if they bring in the channels I want. Now I will never go back. Screw you Assteruk.

Anyone will also be furious when being threatened for false accusations !
*
Exactly.

No offense taken.

Thing is, as I said, I owe them nothing. I paid off all my bills and even returned the card to avoid RM80 fine. I followed their termination terms correctly. But the letter, as indicated, imply that they didn't receive the card, even though registered post said it was delivered, and even their call center acknowledge receiving the card in my final correspondence with them. But as I said, I already called their helpline when I got the letter, and angrily demanded an explanation, and they confirmed again that there is nothing outstanding and apologized. But no more business with them. Like you, I will leave the case close, i just want to vent to make my indignation clear. Will put this behind me for now.

But if they're bodoh enough to do something like that one more time...

Depends if they have other channels I want also, and if their roll out is fast enough to not p!$$ me off.

waiting for IPTV coverage... like h*ll they want to go to landlines..
only go for condo, and high rises building.. astro really doesnt appreciated middle class customer right???
*
Correct. Assteruk only appreciate kaki bola and chinese drama delusional old ladies (which are usually wifes of middle-high and high class customer).

To give an image of how delusional the old ladies are (not sure this is true or not, my lecturer told me this back when I was in college), when one actress who plays a villain visited Malaysia, a group of old ladies actually gathered at airport and throw rotten vegetables at her while shouting vulgarities.

QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ Mar 28 2012, 07:21 PM)
Actually astro has invested a lot in their satellite facilities. So.. why don't you subscribe to the satellite receiving method instead of waiting IPTV?
Unless that was sarcasm, you forgot the two words that makes assteruk subscribers very angry: Rain Fade. tongue.gif

Well , who said satelite tv is dying is not the issue but infact it is,Astro wl incur more costs end of the day.IPTV has variety ,a good internet connection and the world is yours. All astro cld do was go nationwide besides that what did it achieve, rain fade phased it out.If no monopoly astro wld hv died long ago, just with competetitors about to start and astro has felt the heat. The main idea to go into satelite is to lease transponders ,here is where their money is! sweat.gif
*
Assteruk's greed made them make a lot of wrong decisions. Assteruk chose Ku Band instead of other more resilient bands, probably because receiver and transmitter system cheaper (or SKMM won't let them use other bands). There is also warning by ITU that Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia not suitable for Ku Band deployment. They ignore.

Agree with smileguy, assteruk sub probably make up only a small portion of their income. The rest comes from leasing out bandwidth on MEASAT to content providers by their sister company (and yet they complain not enough bandwidth...)

That's the big problem with UniFi and ABN

Fiber fail.

Wait for fiber rollout takes forever. They should at least let people use the decoder with other ISPs in "limited mode" ie crap QVGA video out and no HD. But no, they insist on locking down. Hence failing to gain market share.
