Yelah..ur talking about the next SEA games event which is in 2 years time and the hosts are Myanmar..even now, Indonesia cant provide HD coverage of big events like football..Im not sure if Indonesia are even covering all the sports going taking place in SD..so Myanmar would have to have HD technology installed at every games venue if Qash-M idea is too become true..or Astro could of course give us another crappy version of their upscaled HD..

Celestial Pictures set for major restructuring

Celestial Pictures, the ten year old Hong Kong-based film and TV company built around the Shaw Brothers film library, is to be split up and partly sold off.

Under a not-yet-finalised restructuring plan, the company's TV operations are expected to be hived off from the film-making and library activities. The TV channel operations will then be sold into a new company, where they will be merged with those of Tiger Gate Entertainment.

Tiger Gate is an Asia-based partnership involving the US's Lionsgate, Saban Capital Group and Tigergate's management. It launched two TV channels KIX and Thrills in Aug 2009.

The new deal is financed by Saban and will leave Saban as the largest shareholder in the channels joint venture.

It is understood that other shareholders will include Tiger Gate, Lionsgate and Astro, the Malaysian pay-TV giant that is controlled by billionaire Ananda Krishnan and which is currently the outright owner of Celestial.

Contacted by Film Business Asia, company spokesmen for Celestial, Astro, Tiger Gate and Lionsgate, offered no comment.

The deal, which is expected to be finalised in the next two to three weeks gives both Celestial and Tiger Gate greater scale and diversity of channels to offer to pay-TV platform operators around the Asia region. Tiger Gate's channels, particularly Thrill, which makes extensive use of the Lionsgate library, have been perceived as predominantly western, and have to date secured only limited carriage.

The new company will be able to offer more Asian content in the form of Celestial's Chinese infotainment channel WaTV, and its trio of film channels Celestial Movies, Celestial Movies Asia and Celestial Classic Movies.

A cash injection from Saban into the new company will also allow it to strengthen the programming of the channels as well as to accelerate technological developments such as HD.

The deal, which has been in discussion for close to a year, reunites Celestial with its 2001-2008 CEO William Pfeiffer, who quit the company to form Tiger Gate in association with US film and TV player Lionsgate.

It is not clear how Astro, which has interests that run from magazine publishing, radio and TV to film production in Malaysia, intends to run the slimmed down Celestial.

Hi. Can we add more storage for PVR decoder? Currently I'm using PVR decoder with 500GB hardisk. Can we upgrade the hardisk inside the decoder to say, 1TB hd or just add external hd to the usb slot? 

U mean it is supported by the decoder for us to do that? Can use any type & size of external hd or only b.yond certified WD only?

Ic.. so that means if my pvr decoder already full, I can add more storage by using WD hd, and if that becomes full as well, I can add another WD and just swap between the WDs if I want to access old contents. Is this possible?

Since 3 days ago, I got access to movie package (HD channel not include). Is Astro have some kind of promotion? I check from Astro website, my subcription still don't include movie package or it is Astro unintentionally giving me free ride?

I see, so there is such promotion.  Any info I can read?

Ours is CNBC  Asia, I tell u it has no class at all, Jay Leno has been removed lately,astro really sucks!

Has anyone tried out the astro b.player for watching football online on the astro website? Is it any good?

nope..u dont need to Inifi or good and smooth connection watching football on Astro b.player..I use Celcom broadband..the RM69 package (512kbps)..its smooth for me

YTL Sezmi

All eyes will be on YTL Communications Sdn Bhd's new IPTV offering when it launches at the end of this year, if all goes as scheduled. YTL Comms, a unit of YTL Power Bhd, inked an agreement with United States-based Sezmi Corp last year that would allow it to use the latter's technology to deploy a “hybrid” TV service in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific.

A hybrid service means it will be available on three platforms mobile, TV and computer and streamed wirelessly over Wimax networks, which complements YTL Comms' Yes 4G Internet product.

The venture, reported to involve a princely RM1bil to RM2bil investment, will see YTL Comms building a hybrid digital set top box with Sezmi that can receive digital TV broadcast and VOD feeds, making the company Malaysia's first quad-play operator.

Besides entering a crowded market dominated by few players, YTL Comms will have to fight the content differentiation battle, which market observers have cited as its major obstacle.

With Fox Movies making its debut around here we can see the major revamp of HBO,SM and Cinemax next month,bringing some latest movies as a promotion to stay on on demand!
Based on  the STAR, YTL should be coming soon, while in the pipeline  is Maxis IPTV with Fetchtv  and ABN........No  big hopes just keeping fingers crossed on YTL and ABN ! We cannot forget Mitv which promised a relaunch!

Anyone know how to setup subtitle for HBO HD ?
