singapore is getting sand from cambodia, vietnam, philipines, myanmar, malaysia and indonesia......however, there are many free sands from australia, saudi, africa if singapore can figure a way to get it.....their desert full of sand... tongue.gif
*
That means Singapore is heavily dependant on neighbouring countries for water and sand. Is Singapore's internal and foreign policies are being dictated by the neighbouring countries? Can we conclude that Singapore cannot stand on her own feet and must have the support from cambodia, vietnam, philipines, myanmar, malaysia and indonesia? Can we say that these neighbours are pulling Singapore's nose where ever they want Singapore to go? If the West like American and European cease to have any trade with Singapore, would they able to survive?
Under the history, Singapore was one of the poorest nation in the 1960s after they came out from Malaya. Since then they have become so prosperous and developed largely owe to the support from the West.

soon, sg wont need water from msia... and sand, it is just business... $$$ buy you anything

actually it is the rest that needs support from sg, look at msia n indon begging sg for investment...

sg is becoming like israel, a haven for elites... sg dont really depend on us n europe for trade... they depend more on asean countries... with us n europe is for business not trade

actually they werent that poor as compared to msia... but they did well

IMO that guy just wrote some long winded bullsh*t. My salary (on my offer letter) is quoted X per annum. If I'm paid weekly it's X/52 per week. Monthly it's X/12 per month. At the end exactly the same also what.

Nothing to shout about, it's called AWS(Annual wage supplement) for a reason, not 13th month bonus or other BS bonus.
Also the same thing with annual increment. Generally people would take it as if it's really an increment. Bear in mind if the % is lower or the same as inflation rate, it is nothing more than a salary adjustment, for the sake of maintaining the same level of comfort/lifestyle.

Anyway, something interesting about the blog:

In reality, if they pay us back the '13th month bonus', they employer still owe us 1 day's wages (29 - 28) and get away with it year after year, decade after decade. If you leave the company before the year is up your '13th month bonus' is forfeited instead of pro-rated. That's robbery.
Anyone of you here get any pro-rated AWS when you leave a company before 31st Dec?
Most of the employment contract states that one must work until the last day of the year in order to be entitled of full amount AWS.

I laugh at your idiotic efforts in trolling Singapore and you don't need to send me anymore PMs to ask me to ease off on you because I won't.

Don't give us that sh*te about writing your thesis because it's all bullcrap! You are just here to voice your jealousy and hatred towards Singapore!

Singapore is prosperous due to their OWN efforts and they were not one of the poorest nations after they became independent in the 1960s - want to write a so-called thesis and you don't even have the basic facts correct. WTF....

(CNN) -- New Zealand is perceived as the least corrupt nation on earth, and Somalia and North Korea are seen as the most corrupt, a German watchdog organization said in a report released this week.
The United States ranked 24th least corrupt on a "corruption perceptions index," the fourth-highest in the Western Hemisphere. Canada ranked 10th, the Bahamas is 21st and Chile is 22nd.
Overall, the top spots are occupied mostly by European countries, with the exception of New Zealand, Singapore at No. 5 and Australia, which is tied for eighth with Switzerland. Other nations with top rankings are Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands.
In addition to Somalia and North Korea, which are tied for last at No. 182, the bottom of the list includes Myanmar, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Sudan, Iraq, Haiti and Venezuela.

The company owes you the 29 days IF you are a DAILY WAGE worker who HAPPENS to be paid on a (calendar) monthly interval.

Most professional or graduate grade staff are paid calendar month salaries. Your salary in your employment contract is denominated by calendar month.

I'm not sure what local Singapore law is, about AWS. In my company, AWS is paid to employees on payroll as at the 25th (pay day) December. So as long you're still on payroll on Dec 25, even if serving resignation notice, your December paycheck will be 2X your monthly salary. No pro rata if you resign too early. Funny thing is our bonus is prorated however. Maybe because it's actually a separate annual global contract which has it's own dates and criteria.

Does corruption include the collusion and nepotism? If it is included I wonder how sg will be ranked?
