but land remains an issue. indo and malaysia stopped selling sands to singapore for obvious reason. from which country singapore gets the supplies for land reclamation? tengah and bidadari are potential sites for future new town development after punggol and that's that. are there any empty lands left for new town development? how sustainable singapore is to accomodate ever increasing numbers of population considering the scarcity of land, unless indo is willing to sell batam island to singapore.

Japanese are known for their kamikaze principle and willing to die for their nation. Japan has recovered fast from the tsunami tragedy and I always admire their strong spirit.
If a strong tsunami hits Singapore, that's it...habis. Singapore will be wiped off from the world map and their people will start to kneel down begging for international aid from other nations and there will be influx of singaporeans entering Johor. Johor oso hit by flood 4 years ago but things have gone back to normal.

That means Singapore is heavily dependant on neighbouring countries for water and sand. Is Singapore's internal and foreign policies are being dictated by the neighbouring countries? Can we conclude that Singapore cannot stand on her own feet and must have the support from cambodia, vietnam, philipines, myanmar, malaysia and indonesia? Can we say that these neighbours are pulling Singapore's nose where ever they want Singapore to go? If the West like American and European cease to have any trade with Singapore, would they able to survive?
Under the history, Singapore was one of the poorest nation in the 1960s after they came out from Malaya. Since then they have become so prosperous and developed largely owe to the support from the West.

That graph tells everything. Property prices have risen substantially frm 1997 to 2011. My conclusion is cost of living has risen substantially frm 1997 to 2011 and people have less money to spend. With less money but the pricess of essential goods have gone up will drive inflation up, what I think is not good for the economy.

With no COE, the prices still the same level with Malaysian cars. Why is it so since Spore is the least corrupted country (by comparing with car prices in Thailand).

Agree with you. COE was introduced in 1990 to limit the number of cars but it has failed to achieve its objective. Instead more and more cars on the road, traffic is heavily congested and worst of all, car prices have increased to the extent that it's the most expensive in this region. Despite the high prices of cars, Singaporeans never stopped buying cars. In short COE is a failed policy and the people have to shoulder the burden. Crazy25kid was right, land is very limited is Spore. Nothing much can be done to ease the traffic and provide ample parking space.

Prices of other basic necessities like sugar, rice, flour and others have increased as well. That's why many people go to Johor to buy these basic items....partly because of lower exh rate. It benefits the Johor traders at the expense of Spore traders.

Now J-Corp already owned the Water Company that is supplying u guys water in Singapore. And they're smiling waiting day by day for the water treaty to end coz long before time, a stupid fella signed d treaty on behalf of them and get con, now they are waiting for revenge.
FYI, Sultan of Johor, JCORP owner, got Bugatti Veyron, n I'm so sure his child or GrandChild already have ambition or dream to have his own SpaceShip wat so eva coz when the time come, he can sell one litre of raw water for SGD 50 i think, or more if i were him.
