I need your advice on a situation I face recently.
I am working for this XXX company for 8 months now and upon confirmation they have increased my salary to RM X amount and they put me in charge of the company online marketing presence. But after a few months our managing director decided postpone the online marketing project to next year. So my manager came to me saying that since now I am no longer in charge of the project they want to lower down my salary by three to four hundred. So the company plan to draft another letter for me to sign saying my salary has been reduced to RM Y amount. Which of course I have not sign. I told him I am not happy about this reduction so he give me a few options, either i resign or just take the amount.
I mean can they do such thing all of a sudden? Or is there some labor law protecting workers? Because its really not my fault that they didn't want to proceed with the project and Its really not fair to me.
*
Can provided they give sufficient notice period. It works just like a termination notice.

So let`s say I don't sign the the new offer letter with the revised salary. I am forced to resign or they have to fire me?
and may I know how long is the notification period? they informed me on end of last week and wants me to give a decision by this month.

They can do that but not without consequences. This could lead to unjust dismissal or constructive dismissal case. Please try to check more on both cases and plan your next action.

You have to check back your initial letter of appointment. What does it say? Usually there is a clause for either you or the employer to terminate the contract/employment based on X month of notice provided. Usually range from 1-3 months. Some maybe 2 weeks or lesser.

If its in the agreement or letter of appointment. Even if you do not sign the lower wages, they will eventually issue notice of termination with the stipulated time given.

No, that is not exactly correct, employer could not lower the wages agreed and could not issue termination without consequences when employee does not agree to take lower wages.

Like I said, check on the terms unjust dismissal and constructive dismissal before you think it is all right if employer could do something like this. This is covered under Industrial Relation Act.

Good morning to all, I receive a resume release request from this company: SuccessCorp Venture / SuccessCorp Enterprise for Sales & Marketing Exec. I can't seem to find any information about their company (no website), also don't have the name of the interviewer. You can view the ad here: http://www.jobstreet.com.my/jobs/2010/9/de...136612.htm?fr=J.

Anyone have any experience or are currently working here, I'm just afraid is another scam. Your feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Hi.

Anyone heard of Korean Press Sdn Bhd?

Mutiara Complex, Jalan Ipoh.
Tel: 03-2775 2717

Previously

Is it possible the one that I called is a scam?
Jalan Ipoh phone number supposed to be 03-6257 XXXX.

One of the old tactics I recall was each time you called to come for an interview, they always ask for your contact number.

Dear Sabahan – in particular and all Malaysian,

* A bit long winded post but I’d like it to be in exact detail.

I got a phone call yesterday from +60163117847 informing me that there's an opening for Customer Service something and Business Development Executive, yep, he didn't even introduce himself and which company he's representing. (Tipoff #1, albeit in hindsight). He asked me if I’d be interested so he can arrange for an interview today 20 October 2010 at 9:00 a.m., I told him I’m interested but I don’t think I can make it today. So he asked me but if I’m interested he can reschedule for an interview on Thursday, 21 October 2010, and I said yes, that’ll be great. And before he hung up he asked for my age for verification, I told him my age and he thank me and informed he will sms me the details later.

At 6:21 p.m. yesterday he sms me the details which is as follows,

“Hi, James. Thank you for confirming your interest in this position. (Business Development Exec) TRILOGY GROUP OF COMPANIES. We located at Suites A826 & A827 8th Floor Phase 1 Wisma Merdeka 88OOO Kota Kinabalu Sabah. Your interview appointment is booked on 21.10.2O1O at 9:30 a.m. sharp (thursday). Please bring your updated resume, IC copy, 2pcs of passport photos & copy of relevant certificates. Dress code is corporate attire. Thank you. Pls visit the website appcogroup.asia.com (HR Department)”

I’ve been through this misleading IT job interview before in the same exact premise (Tipoff #2), IIRC I found the advertisement from Job Street, for Keneve (M) Sdn Bhd, a member of the Cobra Group Organisation. So I called him back but he didn’t pick up, so I sms him saying that I didn’t get his name and company name earlier and that I wish to know where he got my particulars from. He never reply me until now, i.e. 11:03 a.m. Wednesday, 20 October 2010 (Tipoff #3). I go by the mantra “once a fluke, twice a possibility and third time’s the charm.”, in this case definitely the same thing I went through before. I looked back at Keneve name card, there’s Cobragroup, in Cobragroup website Appco Group is affliated among other organisation listed. Taadaa.

Allow me to flash back &or share a little for the benefit of the uninformed readers.

Got a phone call for an interview schedule tomorrow afternoon. Got there, no reception, empty and dull office, divided into four sections, main hall, interview room, meeting room and boss’ room. Me and 3 other person waiting. Interview was conducted in pair. Guy introduced himself as Kenny Law, said his wife is Eve, so that’s how become Keneve . . . Asked us to briefly describe ourself, yada yada yada. Then he told us their background, their current operation and their expansion plan. The “We need people to run the branches operation in the future.” lecture ensue. Will call us back if we’re shortlisted for second interview. Soon enough got a call for second interview schedule the next morning 9:00 a.m. sharp. Wear long sleeve and bring notepad. Next morning arrive at premise, saw a number of people being briefed in the bigger meeting room. Then they did the battle cry thing and I was like “Oh sheetsz!” this is not good. Fresh crops turn to be brief, assigned to supervisor, product of the day = streamyx. I was assigned to an Indian guy, and off we go to Inanam. My supervisor was glad that I had a car. When we reach Inanam, he suggested we go drink first, he drank plain water while I ordred nescafe ping, he told me he stopped working with his brother import export business at port Klang to work in Keneve and he enjoy working there. Since this is my first day I get to observed only, next time it’s my turn la konon konon. Naturally I played along luckily the first day were short, about 2 hours. Before we part our way and after I sent him back to Wisma Merdeka he asked me how was it and “see me tomolo”. Naturally I never went back.

So spread the word, spare the heartache and total waste of time! Today!

These people are infiltrating JB as well. There's a company called JAG Advertising in Jobstreet. DO NOT APPLY! The interview is done at an office with a different name called UNITED METEORIC GROUP. Weird filipino woman at the front desk, and a woman with an undecipherable accent named Cat working in HR.
