Lol, clean as in hygienic. Food on the streets/stalls/warungs in Jakarta aint hygienic compared to KL - stomachahces are common among foreigners especially for the 1st few weeks. So I opt to get mine either from restaurants or I cook myself.

As I will be moving to Penang soon (from the UK) I was hoping to find out what sort of costs I can expect for meat and eggs there. In the UK I am used to pork being the cheapest meat (it can be found for RM11.5/kg) but with Malaysia being a muslim country I'm not sure it will be the same there. If someone could give me the average prices I'd be very grateful.

Eggs (per dozen):
Pork /kg:
Beef /kg:
Chicken /kg:

Hi, thanks a lot for the reply - it sounds great. I guess penang will probably bit a bit more expensive but I should be able to get most of my protein without whey at those prices!

@deknoi :

Yeap. Same here, I stop using whey powder starting May 2012. Trying my best to get it from solid food. Really have to spend some time in buying groceries and cook in the kitchen. But i enjoyed it. wink.gif

Guys, whats the healthiest food you can eat from mamak shop at night supper for clean bulk?

I cant stand looking at my friends eating maggie goreng, roti canai banjir, milo ais so i keep rejecting them. now they are making noises.

All i can think of is naan kosong.

Edit :- Found out this info already..

Naan, Chapati, Thosai.

Tandoori chicken is the best if you end up in a mamak shop for lunch. ''Lean Protein which is baked so the fat drips off in clay oven.''
