Hi guys

I am planning to change my car ownership to my brother's name.
My current car road tax is expired so i won't be able to drive it to puspakom.

I was informed by Puspakom that i needed to go JPJ to get the 1 day pass to drive my car to puspokom.

Has anyone experience this before? I wanted to know what document i need to have before i could get 1 day pass for me to drive my car to puspakom for inspection.

Hi just wana check if buy 2nd hand car with cash from dealer;

1. Booking fee (Day 1)
2. Dealer do Puspakom
3. After Dealer inform Puspakom complete, bring cash to Dealer shop, Thumbprint, and take car away (Day 2) - With road tax and insurance still valid
4. New insurance, road tax, New Geran can be collected any day after.

Is the above valid? Thanks

#3 not necessary the case, the car may have its roadtax expired or cancelled, insurance follow person, not car. Thus you will need to have your own.

also depending on cash amount, but its safer to have a bankers cheque/bank draft instead of hard cash, anything can happen.

If using bankers cheque, Dealer state 3 days floating time only can get the car.

If have valid roadtax and insurance, the process is as simple as it is?

Hi all, I went to puspakom because i just sold my car through dealer. When they go for puspakom for checkup, noted that the engine serial number is not the same as in the green card. I never do a major fix to the engine. The car is first hand, bought from dealer. I am ready to reimburse to get the car back.

Now the issue is that the dealer already sold the car to another customer, and the customer has do some major fix, even repainted the car. Any idea to achieve win win situation ?

Just to update from my experience in Feb/Mar 2022. May be helpful to people in the future.

Did 2 puspakom inspections.

First plan to sell my car and keep the number (put on new car)

Then change of plans...family want to keep car, so just going to transfer to family member's name. Hence the 2nd visit to puspakom.

First was Pemeriksaan Khas (Pemindahan Nombor Pendaftaran). Laporan B2
Valid for 1 Month ONLY from date of inspection.
Paid RM 30.21

Second time was Pemeriksaan Tukar Milik. Laporan B5.
Valid for 2 Months Only from date of inspection.
Paid RM 35.51

Just to note.

Plan to go UTC JPJ to transfer ownership this coming week, and settle insurance cancellation under my name, and new insurance under new owner (family member) name... and road tax.

Update 16/3/2022

So on 14/3/2022 i login to my mysikap account which i had already since 2018 when i used it to buy car number plate or some other reason. I did my part as seller all online. No thumbprint needed. No forms needed. Just click buttons.

As buyer (my dad) he does not have mysikap account, so he needs to go to JPJ to complete his part.

On 15/3/2022, i went with my dad to JPJ UTC Shah Alam (i highly recommend going here instead of JPJ, we were in and out in 10mins)

Filled in a form, took the form to the counter, JPJ Officer keyed in the details and my dad gave his MyKad, did thumbprint, paid RM100 fee thru Card (strictly no cash), got new VOC printed in his name and we were out of there.

She didnt even ask anything about Insurance or RoadTax, which i found peculiar. But anyways i headed to my insurance branch after to cancel the policy in my name and bought new policy in my dad's name.

Some confusion over the Road tax and all, apparently i can cancel it and claim back from JPJ, then hopefully my dad can get new Road tax which runs concurrently with his new insurance date, instead of the dates being mismatched.. will be trying to do this when i have the time..

Need to sell a car but the car is under my cousin name but he is too busy to go to JPJ. So even we engage runner to change name, ended up he still need to go JPJ with the runner right? Then its better i drag him to jpj/utc and register for mysikap, then can transfer ownership easily?
Thanks

Facing a situation here, im buying a used car from a private seller,

1. After PUSPAKOM completed, seller insists on full payment before going to JPJ thumbprint.
2. Seller says after puspakom completed and 100% payment done, If I wan I can take the car first without waiting for JPJ thumbprint.
3. Seller already drafted a SPA agreement signed by me and the seller regarding the sale of the car.

Is this above valid case in court? Afraid once seller take the money and i take the car, seller refuse to do Ownership transfer at JPJ. Help advice thanks.

Easy, buyer prepare bank draft/bankers cheque. It is guaranteed payment as u have to pay the bank the full amount on cheque first.

So at counter when thumbprint, hand over cheque. Easy.

Any implication if I take the car first and paid him the money? And do jpj thumprint only a few days after.
Is he able to report that I stole his car even with the agreement in place?

So normally only pass the Cheque to seller at the JPJ befor thumbprint? Any risk if transaction is performed prior?

Yes, I do this way mostly for my cars... exception was 2-3times buyer bring cash (crazy & risky for me too)

If pay prior, u take all the risk....so up to u.

Hi all, a quick question

Plan to get a bmw direct owner and noticed that almost all bmw engine code on the jpj geran is short version since day 1.
Anyone had experiences going for b5? will it fail?
Or need to do b2 for engine code correction > jpj for new geran > only do b5?

or will it be better to settle with runner straight?
