The fastest & easiest way of doing OT is both seller & buyer go to the JPJ counter & do biometrics scan.

It takes less then 5 mins for the procedure to get done.

If u have photocopy of his passport and can forge his signature then MAYBE u are still okay.

If no passport...good luck. bye.gif

i do have copy of his passport but the passport number is different from the one in the registration card ...when the time he bought the car he used different passport and later changed to a new passport as the previous one was about to expire... hmm.gif

Hi guys,

Need your help. I'm about to sell off my car to a private cash buyer. And I still have some loan outstanding with the bank. We plan to go name transfer together with the buyer.

1. First step to settle the bank loan. If i recall when we settle full the bank loan, the bank will chop on our geran bottom part right? Then they will give a release letter?

2. Next step to go puspakom? Is it still compulsory now?

3. After puspakom, go JPJ transfer name? What are the documents to bring?

4. Say if I want to maintain my old number plate, this can be done at JPJ level ?

Thanks for the advise in advance..

1. Yes, must settle bank loan 1st. Bank will then give a letter of discharge and do E-Batal

2. Yes, compulsory before ownership transfer

3. Standard stuff...IC...lesen...geran. JPJ and Puspakom usually side by side only ma...best if u go Wangsa Maju/Jln Genting Klang biggrin.gif

4. Ini I taktau

Thanks for your reply bro..
Just to check, the bank release letter is compulsory even after we do e-batal?

Because i was told the bank need to prepare 1 week for the letter.. I was thinking to do everything in 1 day without hassle..

Cannot. Compulsory.

How JPJ supposed to know is your bank-in slip authentic or not? tongue.gif

e-Batal is directly linked to JPJ systems if I'm not mistaken

Guys, i have a situation here and sorry if i overlooked the thread which has similar situation like mine.

I plan to sell of my current car and get a new car then maintain the current number plate (including the alphabet).

EXAMPLE : current car (WWW 123) --> new car (WWW 123)

Info to take note :

1. Current car and new car under the same ownership name.
2. Current car will be sold to private car dealer and settle the remaining bank loan.
3. The new car haven't register yet.

Can anyone help me on the process for this and the fees along ?
Appreciate the help.
Thank you.

hi guys. i have a question.
-my dad passed away recently.
-and his old car is still under his name.
-its a 30 year old toyota tt141. with a lot of mileage memories.
-powersteering not functioning already.
-road tax expired august this year.
-maintaining the car will be a hassle as spareparts are hard to find. so im thinking to at least maintain his carplate number.

Q1.must i renew the insurance and road tax every year? if i want to retain the carplate number? maybe when i buy another car in 2020?

Q2.what do i need to do when i buy a new car (in the future) and wants to use my fathers car plate?

Morning, guys. Please advise on my situation.
My relative(aunt) want to transfer car ownership to his son. I'm just wondering about road tax and insurance stuff to help them. Please note that the car is fully paid, no loan whatsoever and it's not urgent.
1) From what my understanding, when changing ownership, road tax is cancelled, yes?
2) Now both of them are insured. Still need to change main driver/first driver name on insurance? Would it involve buying new insurance?
3) As the situation and my wondering suggest, would it be wise to do the ownership transfer now or just wait when road tax/insurance expired/nearly expire?

Thank you.

1) So far, every time I change ownership (either buy or sell), JPJ would cancel the roadtax. Refund via bank deposit.
2) Registered owner of the vehicle must be same as the insurance, so in this case, should cancel the current coverage (usually insurer will prorate refund). As for NCD, follow name, not vehicle, if not mistaken.
3) There is no need to wait, as both roadtax & insurance can be cancelled & refunded.

hi guys, really informative thread you have here, appreciate your help on these matters!

my situation is like this, I'm currently living in Singapore, my car and car grant is with my family in hometown, now I have a buyer who lives in Penang (yeah, totally international already, i know.....)

So in order to change ownership, can I go to JB JPJ to fill up the K3 form and thumb print WITHOUT the car grant?

What's the procedure in this situation?

Thank you very much!

update, found some info here, are the below procedures accurate???:

Current owner (me):

note that car inspection is already completed!
1. JPJK3 - Print out 2 units and fill up both unit in A section.
2. TM-AB - Print out 1 unit, complete it, and go get the verification (pengesahan) from JPJ.
3. Photostact IC.
4. Give all those docs to buyer.

buyer (new owner):
1. After received the docs above from current owner, complete the 2x JPJK3 (B section).
2. Print out TM-AB and complete it (verification can do together during #7 below).
2. Print out TM-1 form and fill it.
3. Pay the current owner and get the original JPJK2 (geran).
4. Bring the car to Puspakom, tell puspakom want to do ownership transfer inspection (completed!).
5. Go buy insurance for the car.
6. Photostat new owner IC.
7. Bring all forms + puspakom slip to JPJ (new owner only, current owner no need).
8. Pay the transfer ownership fee to JPJ.
9. Renew roadtax for the car.
