hello everyone... would appreciate some help here.

I'm planning to transfer my car to my brother through mysikap online portal (both of us already got our ID from JPJ).
I've also completed the puspakom check yesterday.
The only thing I got to do now is to do the ownership transfer through MYSIKAP..

I'm now kinda lost at this step...
Is it correct that all I have to do now is get a new car insurance under my brother's name before the transfer? But if he's not the owner yet, is he allowed to buy insurance under his name?

Also, after transferring names, how am I suppose to get the new road tax? Can I do it at the post office? I'm trying to avoid going to JPJ...

Please help if anyone knows >.<

Thanks!

Vehicle owner must be same as insurance policy. Yes new owner can purchase in advance, just mention to the insurer the effective start date.

I am not sure if MYSIKAP will force you to purchase new roadtax, roadtax can be purchased at PosMalaysia or MyEG.

hi guys, really informative thread you have here, appreciate your help on these matters!

my situation is like this, I'm currently living in Singapore, my car and car grant is with my family in hometown, now I have a buyer who lives in Penang (yeah, totally international already, i know.....)

So in order to change ownership, can I go to JB JPJ to fill up the K3 form and thumb print WITHOUT the car grant?

What's the procedure in this situation?

Thank you very much!

update, found some info here, are the below procedures accurate???:

Current owner (me):

note that car inspection is already completed!
1. JPJK3 - Print out 2 units and fill up both unit in A section.
2. TM-AB - Print out 1 unit, complete it, and go get the verification (pengesahan) from JPJ.
3. Photostact IC.
4. Give all those docs to buyer.

buyer (new owner):
1. After received the docs above from current owner, complete the 2x JPJK3 (B section).
2. Print out TM-AB and complete it (verification can do together during #7 below).
2. Print out TM-1 form and fill it.
3. Pay the current owner and get the original JPJK2 (geran).
4. Bring the car to Puspakom, tell puspakom want to do ownership transfer inspection (completed!).
5. Go buy insurance for the car.
6. Photostat new owner IC.
7. Bring all forms + puspakom slip to JPJ (new owner only, current owner no need).
8. Pay the transfer ownership fee to JPJ.
9. Renew roadtax for the car.

Hi guys, any feedback on the post (quoted) above? Really appreciate the help, thanks.

But the new owner will still need to go to JPJ and get the name change for the car grant first right?
Then after that only can get the roadtax?
Am I right?

After the transfer is complete, the name already changed. The new owner can go to JPJ to get the new grant printed. I still haven't got mine printed. I did a transfer in 2015.

If buying road tax online, no need for the printed grant which you already know, I'm sure.

Anyway, I did the transfer though MYSIKAP already and found out that my brother doesn't need to renew his roadtax until the current roadtax expires (in March).
You can also get a refund for the roadtax if you cancel the roadtax before you do the transfer online (but I skipped this step).

Another thing I found out is that instead of the grant, they now need the owner's IC for roadtax renewal at post offices.

The only thing my brother need to do now is to walk into JPJ with the grant and get the new VOC...

I hope this info helps those who are doing their transfer through MYSIKAP like me. smile.gif

P.s: thanks to those who replied to my questions. Really appreciate it.

Maybe you would like to do it my way?
Both old and new owner going to any JPJ to get their own MYSIKAP ID which requires thumbprint and then just do the transfer online.
If you're interested in this method, I can give you more information on this. smile.gif

I have found (some of) the answers when I directly go JPJ to do the change ownership process. It seems that its a simple process but u have to have the correct documents which I did not bring because I did not know and unable to contact the buyer for him to send soft copy / photo of the document to me. Thus I did not complete the change of ownership that day.

1. have to fill in the K3 form for both owner and buyer - FULL NAME & IC are compulsary, address is optional (the officer did seem to start processing even though the buyer's address is not filled in). Buyer no need to sign the form if he/she not there.

2. JPJ might ask to see the B5 form (a copy or a photo, no need ori), this is the document I didn't bring and can't contact the buyer to send the photo

that's it, I'm half way there, lol..........

Hi all,

Hoping to get some advice here from all sifus...

1. Tomorrow I am going to the bank to sign the LOU, as buyer is getting a hire-purchase loan to buy my car...

2. Can I go to JPJ to do the car ownership transfer as 'Seller', complete the form and biometric scan. The Buyer is at another state so we cannot go to JPJ together.
I am hoping to do this fast so that the bank recognize this process is completed and can disburse the final payment to me, CNY is coming..

3. I understand once I performed the car ownership transfer, Buyer got 7 days to complete the ownership transfer timely.

Questions;

1. Can I handover the car to the Buyer's spouse once I completed the car ownership transfer? since I am no longer the owner of the car...anyway...I let the buyer to complete his/her ownership transfer and get his/her insurance and roadtax ready before he/she drives the car.

2. Is there any risk or exposure for me doing this? Logically bank will only disburse payment after the car ownership transfer is done....So I am hoping with me completing the car ownership transfer first, that will indirectly get the Buyer to transfer ownership fast within the 7 days. And bank will process payment.

3. Can the Buyer perform the car ownership transfer at other state JPJ office within the 7 days, as long as I handover to the buyer the original car registration card...?

really appreciate any guidance please... confused.gif confused.gif
if it's too risky, i will reconsider my decision....
what if buyer couldn't complete the transfer within 7 days and i have give away the car.

regards,

hi guys. i have a question.
-my dad passed away recently.
-and his old car is still under his name.
-its a 30 year old toyota tt141. with a lot of mileage memories.
-powersteering not functioning already.
-road tax expired august this year.
-maintaining the car will be a hassle as spareparts are hard to find. so im thinking to at least maintain his carplate number.

Q1.must i renew the insurance and road tax every year? if i want to retain the carplate number? maybe when i buy another car in 2020?

Q2.what do i need to do when i buy a new car (in the future) and wants to use my fathers car plate?
*
Q1 - yes, need to. however you need to do ownership transfer via Court Letter because max can renew for deceased car only 3 years. after that cannot renew anymore

Q2. As before, need to transfer ownership to any relatives thru Court Letter.. i think Letter of Authorization.. so you will be the new owner and can transger the plate number if you buy other can in the future

Hi, just wanna check about the transfer via MySikap.

Both me (seller) and the buyer have registered for the MySikap. From your explanation, it's quite clear except the insurance part.

Will the system check for the insurance's validity during the online transfer? i.e. is the buyer must buy his own insurance first before the transfer can be done?

Thanks

This checking is already in place even when manual/over the counter ownership transfer. So yes, it will.

Same as my seller. Worst is he bought the car under his company name, and because of this slow down the process yawn.gif

I'm at JPJ wangsa maju now unable to proceed with name transfer due to previous owner blacked listed by court. Becareful guys if you did a record search today and turn out no JPJ blacklist, the blacklist could register on the next day due to it takes 6 - 7 months for blacklist to appear in JPJ system.

BTW, thumbs up for officers in JPJ wangsa maju for being fast and effeicient.

Edit: I am amaze with the efficiency of JPJ wangsa maju and padang Jawa bahagian senarai hitam. People are saying that it will take at least 2 days to 5 days to have the JPJ blacklist withdrawn but in my case it has been done in just 1 hour.
