i've been using WD for 6 years, in fact my main 40GB hd for my xp is still running fine. go with what you know, since you've had a good experience with WD.

Yeah, Samsung's 1TB drive has a slightly higher fault rate than WD and Seagate, so only buy it if you're ok with that.
Having said that the WD GP and Seagate Barracuda 11 are quite slow compared to the Samsung F1. |

I've seen reviews saying that WD Green Product is more suitable for external HD as it runs slower, hence cooler. But I wonder how much slower it is? Will it be a very noticeable different in the real world instead of on paper?
Also, I have an idea that slower HD may be more reliable. Haha... sounds stupid ya... |

As long as your hardisk (assuming connected USB 2.0 externally) does not have performance exceeding 60MB/s, then you're ok. If not, it's a waste. Putting a Samsung F1 and a WD Green hardisk as external USB drives, both will yield about the same results. |

Why is the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 always having the yellow spot shown in HD tune?
![]() This also happens to my 1 year old Seagate 160 GB, also of the same 7200.10 |

it depends on how you use the hard drive, and the condition it is in, like the temperature, airflow, dust, etc. i also have 2 maxtors, i dun really trust them because of the failure rate that i heard of, but so far mine hasn't been giving me any probs. and yeah...depends on your luck too, sometimes maybe you buy a faulty unit..
