dude...i have 2 Hitachi hard disk failing within 1 month...the disk just KO just like that.... like my C:, it just hang...and after restart...cannot detect the hard disk at all liao...

i think Hitachi is the worst for me...cause all my life use HDD, never kena this kind of failure... my previous wan...Maxtor or Seagate or Quantum all also use until i sell off or send to dell for recycling also no problem also...

whoa..sad to hear that man, hopefully mine wont suffe the same fate as yours, it's already running about 6 months+ d..use it to install my games and store movies since it has 16mb cache. i bought this coz last time it was cheaper than other brands at the same capacity, and even the salesperson recommended me this model, it seems he's been using hitachi too, torrenting 24/7 without probs. hmm.gif

any review or comment on hitachi hdd?
*
like i said in previous posts, i've been using hitachi hdd, my 1st and only one so far...quite silent operation. so far no signs of failure or noise. as long as can use and it doesnt fail me so fast, then for me it's considered ok d. biggrin.gif

but if you wanna buy new hdd, i suggest follow what others said here, go for WD or seagate icon_rolleyes.gif

based on the specs you gave, it could support, but you're taking a risk here. even my psu at 380W i think it's not enough already, not true power psu summore. you have quite a lot of hardware in your rig, so i suppose as Kataro said, get a 450-500W true power psu. then you can upgrade without any worries biggrin.gif

prelude23,300watt?get new psu...u need to upgrade ur psu sooner or later.
*
yes, prelude23 go for a new 450-500W psu. insufficient power sometimes could damage your hardware. then that time you need to spend more $$$ to repair damaged hardware. might as well spend the money get a better psu now. icon_rolleyes.gif

yeah the warranty is important. you'll never know when you need it. sometimes the hdd might last longer than 5 years, sometimes for some reason it might go KO within the warranty period. just to be safe. biggrin.gif

hoping to get another 320gb hdd soon. from what i've seen here, the hdds with less failure rate are seagate and WD rite? price wise WD seems to be slightly cheaper than seagate. btw, what's the diffrence between seagate non sv35 series and the sv35 ones?

I've seen reviews saying that WD Green Product is more suitable for external HD as it runs slower, hence cooler. But I wonder how much slower it is? Will it be a very noticeable different in the real world instead of on paper?
Also, I have an idea that slower HD may be more reliable. Haha... sounds stupid ya...

WD Green Hard Disk runs slower? u mean it runs at 5400rpm? the price for this hdd also not bad le

it depends on how you use the hard drive, and the condition it is in, like the temperature, airflow, dust, etc. i also have 2 maxtors, i dun really trust them because of the failure rate that i heard of, but so far mine hasn't been giving me any probs. and yeah...depends on your luck too, sometimes maybe you buy a faulty unit..
