By right no need. But until today none of swipes got any alert. Perhaps haven't reach the predefined threshold.

Somebody did email to CS regarding this matter but Maybank is not willingly to disclose the default threshold.

So far OTC transaction I only got 1 from Jusco for ~ RM 55 for my Amex.

But for online purchase, I had been getting all my transaction via SMS so far.

an alert shall be sent for transactions where the card is not presented such as online transactions, auto debit or mail order transactions

Its a pure disappointment really with their CS. I requested for an increase to a temporary credit limit since I'll be on business trip 3 days back. The CS person told me that I'll know the result by Friday. I called up Friday evening, they said it hasnt been process yet and they told me they will look into it. At 11pm, I called again, and they said they cant process until Wed, due to weekend and public holidays. I told them my situation where I need to travel and I just asked for a temporary credit limit, to pay my hotel. The CS once again promised they will look into it and give me a call before 12pm on the status.

Until now, no call received. Well done Maybank CS! Now I am thinking of changing CC.

My comment is ...
Not every bank provides temporary credit limit increase facility. For example, HSBC Malaysia does not entertain such requests. And as far as I know, only Citibank openly advertises temporary credit limit increase as a feature of the card. The other bank (I used before) which also provides such facility is UOB. Banks which does not state this as a feature are likely to say "No" to you. I went to MBB website before replying here and I can't find anything on temporary credit limit increase.

However, while it is a feature ... not necessarily they will say yes to your request. They can say "No" even though you have been a good paymaster, etc. I stopped relying only credit limit increase facility many years back as the best way is to have "2 banks" system. Sometimes one bank's payment gateway may have problems and you cannot pay for a RM30 bill although you have a RM80K CL balance.

I wouldn't want to blame the CS in this case as they can only capture your request (They are trained that way) and pass it on to another section to say yes or no to your request. However, I do agree that the bank should have told you if the CL increase is unsuccessful.

Agree with you on CS is only capturing data. I am not disappointing on the fact that my application was not approve. I would not mind if my application is being rejected either. But, what irritates me is that the fact the CS makes an empty promises. He promised me he would called me to update on the status, but I did not received any call.

But well, an update to the issue, I went to maybankard branch in OU. Talk to the exec there named Julia, and she helped me to sort things out. Now I guess, you rather go to the branch than calling the CS.

Guys,

What is retail protection plan? I am not quite clear even reading the terms and conditions. Can anyone explain?

How if I buy a tennis racket using my maybankard 2 and after 1-2 weeks, my tennis racket frame split into two (no crash with others but it just happened after contact with ball), can I file a claim in such case? LOL. This is just example as I am not clear about retail protection offered by this card.
