Because Mikrotik routers are enterprise-grade product and is also affordable (at least compared to the likes of Cisco anyway).

Is not really an enterprise grade product. Is still far from Cisco on supported interface, routing, and vpn technology.

But is a good powerful flexible product at affordable $$$.

I just subscribe to unifi. What I want to do now is to extend the wireless range. My house and my sister house is on the same road but the distance to her house is around 40-50 meter. Anybody know what I can do so my wireless can reach to her house? Thinking of getting asus RT-N66U modem. Do I need anything else? Or is there any modem better? Do teach me situ. Didn't care need to use repeater or any other thing as long it can reach there

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/195/mapppp.png/

Red is my house, blue is my sis house.Modem currently at red house in front facing road

Is it possible to use the Mikrotik 14dBI outdoor antenna to reach to the other house? If possible, how can I do it?

Hmm... am thinking of getting a Mikrotik RB751G-2HnD to solve the problem that our office is having - see http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2553367 - but reading your post does give me some pause ...

What if in the middle of installing the device we encounter problems - where would we get the help needed ?

Hmmmmm .....

Hi, anyone know where to get good price for RB751G? Mikrotik website recommended price for distributor is around RM250 but after searching through lowyat net seems all around RM350.. if the market price here all around this figure then I might as well get it from Mikrotik distributor at China TaoBao which only RM270 including shipping.. just the 1 year warranty is more problematic but I believe Mikrotik product is very durable product..

The local distributors need to pay for SIRIM testing and approval, import permits, duty taxes and sale taxes to import the products legally, which added up a lot of cost, not to mention other overheads.

I think most shippers are not willing to deliver routers, as it is taking risk in customs clearance, their entire shipment may get customs holdup, due to lack of appropriate import permits, unless something under table.
