Hi I need some help.

Just got a rb751g ap.

I want to setup following to get client on the internet

Clients <wifi> rb751g ap  ---------- remote ap <> internet

Left part is Ok but need help with getting from rb751g to remote ap and internet. Remote ap don't support wds.

I read somewhere I need to setup the 751g as repeater which acts like client. Need some help on what to do using win box or web fig.

Thank you sifus in advance.

If remote ap doesn't support wds, then you cannot do it with rb751g. Need to do a cable run to the remote AP.

Isn't there anyway to configure the rb to function as a normal wifi client to the remote ap ?

Or is the challenge because I want the rb to also serve as an ap to my PC clients wirelessly?

The answer to the first question is yes, but then you cannot use the RB751G as an AP then. If the remote AP supports WDS then it is doable.

If this is true, quite sad as it seems DD-WRT could do it based on this.

Using Unifi setup over here. I've successfully done so without any problem.

Any idea how to setup Guest Wi-Fi network? The guest network shall not have access to my LAN network.

I just bought this router (mikrotik rb751u-2hnd) and I have a question. I connected to my modem and enabled PPPOE mode. How can I restart my connection if needed? Normally routers have a restart button like my previous D-Link, lol. I can't seem to find any options in this case?

u just disable and enable PPPOE client then ok already.

If u want to restart router also can, go ---> SYSTEM ---> REBOOT.

Thanks kaisam smile.gif You mean there's no option for "restart" and the only thing possible is "disable/re-enable"? Btw, how can I increase the TX-power? I can't seem to find the command/UI to do it as well?

Reboot = Restart. icon_idea.gif

TX-power default is 100%. The UI at

---> Wireless ---> Interfaces ---> double click interface name ---> Advanced mode --> Tx power.

Thank you boss, I found it biggrin.gif Didn't know it was hidden. Actually what's the command to check the current Tx power? When I click on Tx power on the UI, it says 17? I thought the default is 30? During high loads, the connection strength seems to drop so I guess increasing Tx power to default 30 would help?

Thanks and I will download the latest firmware and upload. The thing I'm confused about is that Winbox says I'm running on Version 5.6 (on the status bar) but the latest available version is 5.16?! I suppose if I backup my settings, I can restore it after I flash to the latest firmware?

5.6 is equivalent to 5.06. Please don't confuse. Latest stable version is 5.16.
Someone in MikroTik's forum does suggest to make the version numbering more clearer.
Check it out @ http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61813

Backup your setting, copy over to your computer (backup purpose) and upgrade to the new firmware.

Restore back using the backup file earlier.

LOL, thanks for clarifying smile.gif Seriously, the version number is indeed confusing. I have no idea why they made it that way.
