I just bought this router (mikrotik rb751u-2hnd) and I have a question. I connected to my modem and enabled PPPOE mode. How can I restart my connection if needed? Normally routers have a restart button like my previous D-Link, lol. I can't seem to find any options in this case?

Thanks kaisam You mean there's no option for "restart" and the only thing possible is "disable/re-enable"? Btw, how can I increase the TX-power? I can't seem to find the command/UI to do it as well?

QUOTE(kaisam @ May 11 2012, 04:45 PM) Reboot = Restart. TX-power default is 100%. The UI at ---> Wireless ---> Interfaces ---> double click interface name ---> Advanced mode --> Tx power. Thank you. Thank you boss, I found it Didn't know it was hidden. Actually what's the command to check the current Tx power? When I click on Tx power on the UI, it says 17? I thought the default is 30? During high loads, the connection strength seems to drop so I guess increasing Tx power to default 30 would help?

Can anyone tell me what's the command to use NTP on mikrotik rb751u-2hnd? I can't find the option under "system" > "NTP client" on the user interface? That's odd??

QUOTE(asellus @ May 16 2012, 03:53 PM) Upload system-5.16-mipsbe.npk to the router and reboot? Thanks and I will download the latest firmware and upload. The thing I'm confused about is that Winbox says I'm running on Version 5.6 (on the status bar) but the latest available version is 5.16?! I suppose if I backup my settings, I can restore it after I flash to the latest firmware?

LOL, thanks for clarifying Seriously, the version number is indeed confusing. I have no idea why they made it that way.

kaisam, thanks for all the help earlier and I know you're an expert in this May I ask a question? If I want to limit bandwidth for all my wireless connections, what do I need to do? I suppose I first need to create a queue and assign it to my WLAN then limit the bandwidth from there? Anything else?

QUOTE(asellus @ May 18 2012, 03:42 PM) Doesn't that will limit the bandwidth on the wireless network, which is a strange thing to do? If you want to limit Internet speed for wireless users, detach the wireless interface from the bridge, run a DHCP server on the wireless interface with its own IP range, and then throttle the said IP range Internet speed. Maybe I should explain further as to what I'm trying to achieve I have a lot of wireless devices but my PC is running on LAN cable. Sometimes my family members which connects to wireless would YouTube, upload/download, etc which takes up a lot of bandwidth and eventually it affects my online gaming experience. What I want to do is to limit the bandwidth available to these devices so I thought it's easier to limit by interface rather than MAC or IP address? If you have a better solution, please let me know. I'm sorry as I'm not a networking guy and the other day it took me so many hours just to configure port forwarding on the router, lol.

QUOTE(asellus @ May 18 2012, 07:53 PM) Then what I have said before will do exactly what you want. All devices that connect to the wireless interface of the router can have its Internet connection throttled to whatever speed you wanted, while keeping the LAN users to enjoy full speed Internet access. Your earlier method will not only limit Internet speed but also wireless LAN badnwidth. Thank you sir but I have no idea where to start, lol. I suppose the WLAN is already a separate interface for now (default configuration) so I basically need to create an IP address range and assign it to this interface then a queue to throttle it?

Can someone guide me how to tag VLAN 621 and 822 to a specific LAN port so I can plug in my Thomson router and use VOIP?

QUOTE(klcc212 @ Jul 25 2012, 09:55 AM) you not replacing the thomson with mikrotik? I have Mikrotik connected to the BTU and I'm able to make the connection so Internet is fine. Now I need to configure a LAN port with VLAN 621 + 822 in order to have VOIP and then plug Thomson router on that LAN port. Is my understanding correct?

Does anyone know if I can import configuration from my Mikrotik RB751G-2HnD to RB951G-2HnD directly? I am thinking of changing mine to the latest model.

I am using Maxis Broadband and Mikrotik router. However, I am unable to use the phone. How can I possibly set the Mikrotik router to route SIP traffic to the original Maxis Thomson router so I can connect the phone to it? I cannot setup on the BTU because mine is the Alcatel unit (not Huawei).
Can someone help me please?
