Hi guys, need a lil bit help on pppoe.
just bought rb751g and unifi.
currently not using the hypptv so i don't mind about the vlan things.
i've set up using the default configuration and add new pppoe client.
i've entered my unifi username and also password but apparently,
the status keep on "dialing..disconnect..dialing..disconnect and so on"
the log from pppoe topics are ;

ether1: sent PADI to FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF
sessionid=0x0000
host-uniq=0x46
service-name=
pppoe-out1 : terminating.. - disconnect
pppoe-out1 : LCP lowerdown
pppoe-out1 : LCP down event in initial state
pppoe-out1 : disconnect

using default config here

You still need to setup an interface for vlan500 for PPPoE. vlan600 no need if you're not using HyppTV.
*
bro. thanks alot. it is working now. did not know that i need to set-up vlan because for my previous dd-wrted router, i just set the pppoe straight away and can connect to the internet. notworthy.gif

do u have any idea what is the different on setup between MikroTik and DD-WRT? assume that i don't need vlan.600

edit: ok pls discard above statement. somehow i already forgot that i did setup vlan 500 for the dd-wrt. did this tweak back early 2011. doh.gif

ok got it. some how the default configuration does not work well for wlan1.

just go to nat rules, set srcnat from ether1 to pppoe and everything should be fine

Best is use a script to convert the domain name to its IP addresses... as these server IPs always changes....

I usually set 1 from Asia, and 1 from US
*
What do you mean by converting the domain to IP?

I've set to use my.pool.ntp.org and MT automatically converted into IP.

Do you have the sample of the script so that I can have a look? Many thanks.

Thanks and I will download the latest firmware and upload. The thing I'm confused about is that Winbox says I'm running on Version 5.6 (on the status bar) but the latest available version is 5.16?! I suppose if I backup my settings, I can restore it after I flash to the latest firmware?
*
5.6 is equivalent to 5.06. Please don't confuse. Latest stable version is 5.16.
Someone in MikroTik's forum does suggest to make the version numbering more clearer.
Check it out @ http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=61813

Backup your setting, copy over to your computer (backup purpose) and upgrade to the new firmware.

Restore back using the backup file earlier.

Can someone advise me how to change the wireless channel on this  RB751U-2HnD
BTW Rip_Code - can you share your wireless settings?
*
Most of my setting are the default one.
For MikroTik, I believe in order for you to change the wireless channel, you need to adjust the frequency.

Refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
