Just a quick update.

Tested with hAP AC2 and hEX GR3. hap was slightly faster but appeared to have higher CPU utilisation. Going to stick with the hEX.

All the cAP AC could get full throughput. Only testing one connected device at a time and there are SFP connected switches between the structures.

Capsman doesn't slow connection or tax the CPU that I noticed.

My issues were with a mis-configured "kid control".

Thanks to all that assisted. You were much more helpful than TM support (and their slightly menacing DM received last night).

How TM lets some things through their corporate communication protocols is beyond me.

All 5GHz is using only ac?

I have found that some devices, especially Apple will cling onto n, rather than moving to ac when n range and good signal.

The Apple network stack is a PIA compared to other devices.

I recommend those with less experience planning to setup multiple APs with mikrotik to watch this video to avoid the common mistakes.

Hi All,

Long time didn't visit this thread. FYI (if it have not mention before) Mikrotik have a new feature for you to get the Unifi Dynamic IP and you can skip the subscription of noip or similar services.

https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Cloud
BTW, anyone using rbd52g-5hacd2hnd-tc ? Is it stable. Last i read it have some wifi connection speed issue.
*
I did some quick tests here with the hAP AC2. It's OK. Wifi performance is average for 2x2. Can't say anything about reliability yet.

Hmmm.

Every single time this guy addresses a MUM, we hear how great he is and all the training the UK Government provided him, for free. Then he starts on his usual Mikrotik supremacy and now we get his partnership spiel and his planned association with the company into UK publicly funded education.

The man has great knowledge but is no better than an Amway salesman as far as credibility goes. He is preaching to the choir. I want the gear, make it available locally as soon as released and I will buy it.

I shall persist, in watching his presentation in hope of gaining some more knowledge.

Mikrotik are outstanding products and there is no need to make the usage some magikal trick.

Watch his earliest MUM videos if you are unsure. Same old MUM BS.

Thanks to OP as hadn't seen this vid yet.

A few quick tests on "my" Turbo500 and RB750Gr3.

Fasttrack On: DL: 530Mbps UL: 110Mbps
Fasttrack Off: DL: 270Mbps UL: 110Mbps

5 simple queues (1 900M queue for the test PC), 19 firewall rules (including the 2 for Fasttrack), no mangles, vlan50 for LAN traffic.

Queue for test PC removed.
Fasttrack Off: DL: 350Mbps UL: 110Mbps

Will test again when I get my 800Mbps Turbo.
*
Did another test on a default config RB750Gr3. (6.44beta20)
One Speedtest
Fasttrack On: DL: 530Mbps UL: 110Mbps
Fasttrack Off: DL: 448Mbps UL: 110Mbps (50%, one CPU at 100%)

Two Speedtests
Fasttrack Off: DL: 480Mbps UL: 110Mbps (one CPU at 100%, one at 90%)

And a test on a default config hAP AC2. (6.44beta20)
Fasttrack On: DL: 530Mbps UL: 110Mbps
Fasttrack Off: DL: 527Mbps UL: 110Mbps (one CPU at 30-50%)
Will need to wait for my Turbo800 to test again.

The hAP AC2 is looking good.

depends on what model you got.

I have the old RB750G (680MHz CPU) <-- this was a rather popular model in old times, I think a lot people has this.

30mbps legacy unifi package = 30% CPU
100mbps unifi package = 65% CPU

both are fast track off @ gigabit LAN @ only 1 desktop PC.

I think this router is capable up to 200mbps only despite it has gigabit WAN port.

I think the easiest way is enable all packages first, upgrade ROS to latest stable, then reset all settings and setup again for Unifi. This will ensure fast track and firewall is enabled for both IPv4 and IPv6.

Do enable this

You need to check your speed profile has been upgraded by TM

Otherwise it won't work
