i was using the color pattern provided by Datacolor.

i will go back and try out the HD709 test pattern today. I m actually using Dune media player. Can i use the MP4 version of the HD709 test pattern?

by the way, i am now reading up on the HCFC colorimeter.

i found the guide here but this guide is slightly old. what do you think of the HCFC colorimeter? is it accurate?

U can use the mp4 patterns. If u r planning to buy a meter, I would.suggest the OEM i1display. U can use it with the open source hcfr 3.2 or with calman/chromapure. Colorimeters hv their limitations, a spectrophotometer is better but they cost.more.

Saw many good review regarding Plasma 50ST50K in this forum. Just bought one and had it deliver to me this afternoon. After returning from work in the evening, I removed my old Sony LCD and replaced with this new plasma tv. After turning it on and done the basic setting including the wifi setting, the tv suddenly turn black and a red power light kept blinking. The tv just can't turn on no matter how i tried including turning off and on the power supply.

I read some forum in the net and looks like it is the power supply problem. I don't think is the power surge at my wall socket because I have being using it for the LCD tv for the last 4 years.

Anyone have encounter the same problem? and anyone know what cause the problem?

Results do drift a little depending on the set.

Panasonic may end plasma HDTV production soon.
So sad, but I will still be keeping my eyes friendly plasma until the last day.

I recall reading similar reports last year..... hopefully not true.
On the other hand, it might pave way for volume production of OLEDs which would drive the price to more affordable levels...emmmm lets see what happens.

VA panel is always brighter than IPS panels.

But when you view it from off angle, VA panel will suffer color shifting and black level degradation which an IPS panel doesn't

VA used by samsung, sony, sharp, The 3S.

IPS used by LG, Panasonic.

PVA or Patterned Vertical Alignment LCD is a joint technology between sony and samsung.

IPS or In-plane switching LCD is manufactured by LG, also used by Panasonic.

If you have big living room and bigger crowd, IPS is better in my opinion. PQ great at all angles.

in search a little about ips and the viewing angle is more better... but basicly the color for 42e5k compare to other seem dull, is it because of the IPS panel or what, does this prob solve in 42ET50K model.? i cant find shop that have both of this model to make comparison
kindly those own THL 42/47 ET50K can give a comment..

All led tv will look dull if the eco/power saver is turned on. The backlight might have been set to minimum. Ask the shop for the remote to confirm this.
