QUOTE(StupidGuyPlayComp @ Mar 4 2013, 02:04 PM)
the new series should be soon, maybe Apr..............but be ready in high price, maybe 5099 like the initial price for ST50
*

looking at USA official announced price 1300 dollar, i expect p50st60 comming soon model will sell below 4k ringgit
added feature is magic pen, quite nice
QUOTE(anti-LAx2 @ Mar 4 2013, 02:54 PM)
As I will be using this tv in my room for watching movies, series and gaming.
*

the main thing is UT50 model will give plenty of glass reflection in bright room (as seen from outlet)
u can see ur reflection inside the tv when picture showing black dry.gif
however, if u can control light source or block window no big deal la

while ST50 has anti reflection filter (similar to higher range GT50, VT50) can block light that shine from top only
but white color cannot be strong as LCD or LED display

UT50 has less setting for color reproduction and etc.. ST50 got

From the info I gathered, ST60 is using same panel as ST50. The only thing diff is the touch pen and version 2 software?
*

ST60 price is comming up soon smile.gif as told by anfieldude april-may

i noticed these difference:
magic pen accessory
remote control is no longer backlight unit of ST50
black frame instead of silver
no train speaker

What is "train speaker"?
Does it mean that the features are even lesser than ST50????  shocking.gif
*

the 50 family (st, gt, vt) use 8x little piece of speaker, which sounds ok to me, under "user" mode and distance setting "over 30cm".
default is "music" mode which thin out vocal, distance setting affects the bass woofer behind this tv

60 family use single piece conventional setup, but VT60 is slightly different? in specs write "side SPK"

notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif Greetings to all sifus

welcome to pana family cheers.gif
instead of "channel logo" i worry more on black bar that causing unbalanced wear.

here is summary of what u recommended to do:
1. make sure you choose the aspect ratio that fully fill the screen (use Just or Zoom)

2. set contrast about 50% or lower
i tested contrast 70% when adjusting tv setting for 20minit ++ , the OSD leave minor retention mark shakehead.gif
luckily it dissapear away later on

3. dont watch a same channel or static picture for long period during first 100 hour.
this prevent channel logo or windows start menu retention mark.

i believe after the first month of daily run will get less chance of problem
so enjoy ur big screen biggrin.gif

Does break in also help to improve picture quality or other things as well???

Any sifus? Thanks in advance ^^
*

i just bought mine about 10 days ago sweat.gif didnt see any improvement
anyway, the picture quality is best at 80% contrast icon_idea.gif trying hard to resist adjust it

80% mean 80 on the screen, right?
*

u got it rite.

well, dynamic is used in very bright room that boost dynamic contrast & brightness.
black become very black, white become very white. colour can pop out of screen. haha

normal means simple setting.
cinema got more function
THX is tune by professional for cinema feel

if u happen to download "hd_other_pioneer_the_kuro_experience.m2ts" this demo video, google it.
i was stunned at 1 part where the fish swim out of screen.
just close all window and lights... no need 3d glass at all laugh.gif

Im new to this TV thing. Planning to get the TH-L50EM5K.
What I should do and what should not do with it for the first use?
Hope seniors here can guide me so the tv last longer. smile.gif

led are quite easy to take care, dont worry.
keep sound volume at moderate level and adjust backlight to ur environment lighting.
wipe away dust behind tv (power off la) every month
that will keep ur tv long lasting

Thanks Mea,but when I check the specification on Panasonic site, its stated as "Panel:LED LCD (VA)".
Im confused now.  rclxub.gif
*

market name is LED TV
full name is VA panel with white LED backlight
VA is part of LCD technology. this kind of LED emmiter cannot make any color other than white.
so it need a layer of liquid crystal in front to produce color

QUOTE(vincentboleh @ Mar 31 2013, 11:24 PM)
Good news
*

expected lor.. last year also consider to close, but still open again becos their plasma research team got new idea to beat the pioneer gang.
maybe it's main purpose is give pressure to own self work harder.

QUOTE(willkso @ Mar 31 2013, 11:57 PM)
It's LCD display panel with LED backlight
*

pls add "white LED" so ppl will clearly understand the difference with RGB led smile.gif

Wouldnt want to screw anything up
*

well, u can start from RGB (red green blue), brightness-contrast
these all are not service mode.

QUOTE(koh777 @ Apr 3 2013, 11:14 PM)
I think the PQ is better than v20 and even my old pdp436. But the speaker is really poor, worst than the v20.
8 train speakers but only 4w+4w  doh.gif  doh.gif  , v20 10w+10w.

slim tv cannot expect much from sound quality sweat.gif v20 not slim tongue.gif
new VT60 got new speaker design thumbup.gif

I would advise against using the white balance controls (RGB high/low) without a meter.

If u r not using any tools, set the display to true cinema mode, set ur brightness/contrast/sharpness using the AVS HD709 disc and my guide and u shd be good to go.

Attempting to control white balance controls by eye might cause more problems than necessary.

Is there anything I should check? dead pixel, etc. Thanks!
*

standard checking:
any image retention (a.k.a. ghosting mark) appear on screen
remote function, hdmi port, speaker
total usage hour (if u concern about 100% new or demo set)

QUOTE(pgcity @ Apr 12 2013, 12:59 PM)
appreciate if those with experience with this can answer.
*

many reviews say so.
u still miss a hdmi port and 2 extra mode (bright room & dark room), nicer frame (my taste drool.gif ),
VT give very deep black due to different kind of filter applied in front, and it is obvious when i see in show room.

Till now undecided, prefer plasma but the image retention thing keep dancing in my mind. I don't want to baby this thing and keep concern about static images whenever i play something or accidentally left static images without knowing sad.gif
The 50 inch E6 is using VA panel not IPS, supposedly with better blacks like the sony models but with sacrificed viewing angle. Native refresh rate only 50hz sad.gif
*

well, my unit 1 month liao.
sikit2 retention mark sure will come out when i play ps3 for straight 8 hour ++
but later it blur out when i watch other show, slowly become invisible.
the hardest part is watch movie in full screen mode, always block subtitle or fat woman (wide mode)
damn original bluray also curi ayam without 1080 vertical content

keep the contrast low to medium for new set. other setting u can change but contrast affect retention the most.

i quite like VA panel, own a HP de lcd using VA.
view angle is not a problem unless u die2 must watch from side

1. use eye to inspect
2. this will require u to access "service mode"
take extra care becos it will void warranty for any accident mistake. google it at own risk
i checked mine has run 4hour at shop
