@SiuYi
I understand your rationale. I also heard about "glass or silicone coating-something-something" for protecting the car paintwork, costs around RM3-4K. tongue.gif

With money, anything is possible. Question is, when I buy a budget 45K car, do I want to add another 10-20K for all these extras? My answer is NO. Some ppl answer is YES.

----

For those still asking about FLX FC, I just drove to Singapore and worked out costs to be around 20 sen per km using Shell VPower (RON97) at RM2.80/L.

Travelled 382km using approx 26.34L of petrol. Average speed 80-110kmph, 90% on highway. Car only 10 days old and this is first tank. I expect consumption to improve after engine run-in.

... had u ever heard of windscreen waxing? my friend brought his ford ranger to clear the blur windscreen (due to age and previous owner did not wash the car properly). they apply some wax thing on the glasses and it is quite permanent. the shop even give 6 months warranty for it, but it cost rm4xx for the service.

but from my understanding they last longer than iridium ler..maybe im wrong?
*
last time also got 1 person thought platinum last longer than iridium...but then he misunderstood after searches
platinum is from the 80s...iridium is way newer than platinum and iridium is still the most long lasting one yet which is 100k KM
platinum only last half of iridium which is in the middle of normal spark plug and iridium
the price speak for itself as well
but usually spark plug last longer than they recommend...u can use it until 90k+ as well
same as iridium can go way way over 100k

good FC...you'll get better FC after service
there are many protection things out there...some is protecting paintwork, some is wax
for protecting paintwork..for me not worthed since our paint is thin
but for wax...thn yes...since it can last few years without waxing

that nano coating im not interesting, coz i got the same mindset like u.but for the windscreen i did it due to safety purposes. at least we get some mutual understanding of different ideas regarding the same product in market.however, silicon wiper might help in such cases.

MR_alien
i will go back and consult my mech again. thanks.

Wow! Dat's good F*!! Avg of 14.5Km/L!! thumbup.gif
Keep it up & yu'll b the envy of all who pop in here! rclxm9.gif

Btw RON97 also gives better mileage than 95. Me found that 2b true, even when using ole ole Saga!
However price diff too great or else 97 anytime better, rite?
Thought can save $$ abit using 95 now coz new Sagas can use lo.
NB. Actually Proton specifies AT LEAST RON95!! So if fuel we buy truly 95 then ok lo. BUT izzit really 95? whistling.gif

@lowyatsuperman; Have fun happy.gif. I had fun too today. Brought my car to visit the driest place in Malaysia.

hi, just wanna ask issit ok to drive my new FLX for long journey?? Mine is just a week old with mileage around 150+km. Is it bad for the engine? Also, the manual stated that for the first 1000km do not exceed the speed limit of 90km/h. What are the opinions from all the sifus here?

SC ppl feed our cars... Not us! We juz pay them for their services... rolleyes.gif
So as is, fyi most of us hv NO choice & our rides hv 2b happy with Petronas Semi Syn 10W40... thumbup.gif

@plain_white : There are various schools of thought in wat yu're asking...no hard & fast rules re modern engines. tongue.gif
Try Googling for them. Then decide for yrself.

Most common advice? Drive yr car the way yu wld "normally" drive it. Juz dun overstrain it... icon_rolleyes.gif

ps. My FL was driven abt 140Km the day after delivery! doh.gif

I was planning to drive to penang and back on the same day. So it gonna be quite some distance. I've read some comments that we should vary the rpm and avoid constant speed. But then, i'm not sure whether i should drive beyond the speed limit of 90km/h as stated in the manual. Btw, i think driving <90km/h on the highway is just annoying tongue.gif

My FLX already 13 days old and the total mileage as of now is 802km.

Fastest I've go? 140km/h. Highest RPM I've rev? 4,200 rpm.

Nothing major happen yet. Nothing is disintegrating yet. No weird noises or whatsoever funny stuff. smile.gif

for now...service in SC and outside have no quality/price difference...only labour charges more expensive than outside only
i suggest u continue service until at least 20k KM...to confirm your car has no major/minor problem
if you're really unwilling to service @ sc
remember your warranty...once u start service outside...warranty will void and any part broke, u would have to pay for it
