just started using the stock browser since i found out we can change the agent string.

but i noticed...
* i set home page to blank but after a while, it changes back to the default google search page.
* i set agent string to desktop... and like the above, it gets changed back to the original settings...

anyone else facing this? how to make the settings 'stick'?

and just sharing, in case you din know... for stock browser... when you pinch to zoom out (make the browser smaller), you'll then get to see all the other open windows. before i accidentally discovered this, have to click menu -- windows.

No. I do not have any data plan, so I am afraid the background app will suck my money dry.

Do we have to turn on data for MMS?
*
Yes you need data for MMS.

install a widget that enables you to data switch on/off. switch on when you want to send or receive mms, then switch it off again. don't worry, mms wont eat into your data charges, but it is needed to send/receive.

Ya.. but I think what I really need to do is follow destEX advise to install those network app so that when I turn data on those app wont use my data.

Btw, just now I turned on data for a moment and the MMS is sent. Thanks!!

@newbie: You have JuiceDefender/Green power installed? Otherwise it has never really happened to me so no idea.

I also think it's a SIM/Network issue. Just pray that your EFS partition is safe, or else there won't even be a cellular portion of the phone at all (no calls no nothing).

But seriously guys, root JUST to back up your EFS. It will save your ass one day, like it did mine.

Also, turn OFF fast dormancy. Dialer - *#9900# - Disable fast dormancy. Should be quite a bit more stable, though I have no idea if our carriers ACTUALLY support FD or not.
*
Nope. None of those installed.

Anyways, Anand of anandtech.com also got the same problem. lol.

For the most part, I’m very pleased with SGS2’s cellular connectivity situation, though there’s a bit more to talk about. I noticed that sometimes cellular connectivity will stop and become unresponsive for anywhere between a few seconds, and minutes at a time, requiring a battery pull or lots of patience before working again. Toggling airplane mode doesn’t work when that happens, and usually it’s manifested by the data-type indicator disappearing. I’m not sure what the story is here, but it seems like I’ve seen a lot of Samsung phones having data sessions randomly lock up and then come back after a while, lately.

they are services, not advisable to close them unless you know what you're doing, using advanced task killers and closing them is what causing the hooohaaa about android being sucks

We are on gingerbread. Android have evolved to handle task very well. So I don't advice using task killer at all. It will cause more problems.

thats because those apps are something u set in your own phone such as widgets . Turning it off doesnt mean u do any good to your phone , in fact it drains more battery as the system need 2 turn it back on and worst case , u might be experiencing FC

not only that, some apps rely on those services, if you close them, they will end up keep looking for those services, therefore causing wakelocks andyour battery drain like no tomorrow.

eg. facebook app

Turning off my Tasker screen auto data off profiles, seeing that my daily use time is now safely spanning a full day at work, thanks to the Momax 2700mah batt.

Let's see how well it performs with constant 3G.

Just don't too crazy with such la. Android is smart enough to close its own task. There are services and programs. Programs can close safely but when it comes to services, clsoing might cause phone error like reboot etc.
