I'm looking for 23'' or 24'' LED monitor with 120hz refresh rate. HDMI. Can pivot. No IPS. 2-5ms. Any recommendations?

The P2311H uses a TN panel, that's why it's not mentioned here.Aside from the stand and USB ports there's nothing that separates it compared to the other displays you can find in shops.

Tested some games (e.g. Assassin Creed: Brotherhood, Anno 1404, RE5, DIRT3, DA2) on U3011 for about 5 days now and I'm lucky that my good old 5870 still able to play most of the pre-2012 games without much lag even in its native resolution and high settings. So far only Anno 2070 that I had tested put a high stress on the GPU and the settings need to be tuned down to medium/high for the frame rate to be consistent. Did not experience any ghosting or lagging image. The matte surface is definitely a plus.

Which LCD monitor below 24" will give the best performance in video quality? IPS panels?

I read some comments that the colour reproduction on the LG IPS236 is dull and not rich or vivid.

Basically which LCD monitor will produce the best colour and quality for videos approaching normal 42" and 50" LCD or LED TVs we usually use to watch movies?

Personally i recommend the Asus VS239-N which retails for RM639,it uses an eIPS panel thus not matter how you sit [or lay down] while playing the colours won't change much.It supports HDCP so you only need to get a HDMI to DVI converter.

For monitors below 24" the best you can get are the ones that use eIPS panels like the Dell U2312HM,Asus VS239-N,LG IPS236V .Ones that use VA panels like those Samsung TVs you see in shops afaik don't come in sizes smaller than 24" .These monitors i mentioned, from what i've seen they are better than the lowest end TVs you see in shops ,their colours are plenty vivid and they can show proper colour gradients unlike some other PC monitors which make skin tone look weird and fine details indistinguishable .Also, these monitors have a matte coating on the screen which doesn't make the colours pop as much as TVs.

I checked the spec of the Asus VS239N and it does not mention about the HDMI port. Can you confirm if it has the HDMI port?

I have shortlisted the same model you have recommended earlier, the Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM and LG IPS236V. Although the Dell is claimed to be slightly better than the LG in terms of quality, it does not have the HDMI port. The LG IPS236V comes with the HDMI port. Now the Asus is thrown into the mix.

The availability of HDMI is desirable since it will allow connections to media players or blu-ray players etc. Would appreciate if you can confirm that the Asus VS239N has HDMI. Thanks.

Ah,sorry about that.I mixed up HDCP with HDMI.It doesn't have HDMI but it does have DVI with HDCP support so you should be able to display DRM protected content with it.

Okay, not a problem. Thanks. Looks like I'm leaning heavily to the LG IPS236V now.

AFAIK out of the box the Dell U2312HM and the Asus VS239N has better calibration out of the box compared to the LG IPS236V.You might want to consider that as well.
