I for one can say at 1080p res and a short 1 meter VGA cable. The pciture quality is fine with I compare side by side btw my second monitor with DVI.
The key factor here is length of cable, build quality of cable and maybe how noisy ur environment (as in electromagnetic interference if u can measure it?).
It also depends on the quality of the analogue/digital conversion of each monitor. Some have better sharpening algorithms for VGA than others.
So what I trying to say is, with D-Sub(VGA, DVI-A) you may encounter degradation of the signal from multiple factors while digital transmission(DVI-D, HDMI, DP) eliminate the flaws in analogue transmission have
From my experience,VGA sometimes look just as fine as DVI but at other times look like shit. From what i can see, when i connect a VGA cable from a laptop to a U2311H,the image produced is blurry and auto adjustment can't fix it.On the other hand, when i connect a VGA cable from a desktop with iGPU/dGPU the the image produced is as good as DVI,there's no difference at all.Does this mean laptops have more EMI than desktops?
