hey, anybody has experience with their U2312HM flickering? Mine happens only if I'm using the display port while DVI doesn't have issue. What should I do with this monitor?

There is only one type of 3D monitor which are those 120Hz monitor, using active shutter technology.

Basically the TV will display alternative images everh Hz, so you have 60Hz of left image, and 60Hz of right image. Then the active shutter glass will synchronize with the monitor so that when it display the right image, it blocks the left lens and vice versa, with that your brain will process a 3D image.

- unless you are talking about the red blue glass, that one every monitor also can support.

Polarized 3D is only available at cinemas. Polarized 3D works by two projector displaying image to the screen beamed at vertical and horizontal polarization. Then on your polarized 3D glass, the left glass will accept horizontal image and the right eye will accept vertical image.

Using the Samsung 23A950D. Honestly tho I hate 3D, and in most cases it's not worth it. Thankfully the 120Hz makes the monitor smoother, especially in gaming

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Dec 13 2011, 07:24 AM)
Get a cheap 32" 1080p TV instead? It solve all your problems, bigger screen and cheaper solution. Can be found at any shops that sells LCD TV right now, this you need to go to see for yourself.
Those 27" Dell Ultrasharp is not for normal consumer neither gamer with small budget, it's not aim for gaming market anyway, its purpose is mainly design and colour accuracy.

But if you want to get monitor following shikimori's list, then Samsung S27A950D

Then get the LG FPR based 3D using passive glasses, but the downside is you're effectively getting half the resolution when in 3D mode. Good enuff for movies but quite bad for gaming. http://www.lg.com/my/it-products/monitors/LG-3d-D2342P.jsp

For TV, i don't know about their colour.

But for Monitor Dell U2412M. here's the information.
QUOTE
Panel Used : 24"WS LG.Display e-IPS (LM240WU8-SLA2 )
Colour Depth : 16.7M (6-bit +A-FRC)
Response Time (ms) : 14ms
Contrast Ratio : 1000:1
Brightness (cd/m2) : 300
NTSC Colour Gamut : 71%
Adobe RGB coverage : 74.3%
sRGB coverage : 95.8%
Backlight : W-LED

For working with photograph, which i assume you will be using Adobe Photoshop, you would probably need a true 8 bit panel for your work, which offers above 80% color accuracy.

But they are much more expensive, you can look at Dell model U2410, U2711 or U3011.
These uses H-IPS Panel which offers 8bit or 10bit(8bit +A-FRC)

You can have a look at Dell Monitor U2410 information below.
QUOTE
Panel Used : 24"WS LG.Display H-IPS (LM240WU4-SLB1)
Colour Depth : 1.07b (8-bit+A-FRC)
Response Time (ms) : 13ms
Contrast Ratio : 1000:1 /3000:1 (DCR)
Brightness (cd/m2) : 400
NTSC Colour Gamut : 102%
Adobe RGB coverage : 98.1%
sRGB coverage : 100%
Backlight : 7x CCFL

Added : Info

IF you want cheapest solution, i recommend you spend RM50 get a cheap CRT Monitor for photo working, they have perfect color compare to all current LCD.

The higher the better. But in the first place please don't use dynamic contrast ratio for comparison.

Nah, 3D is overrated. Unless you want a 3D monitor that can do Real 120Hz (Samsung 950D series or alienware optxtm aw2310) I suggest to ignore 3D monitor altogether as you can get better monitor for that price from Dell. Anything that is not using Dual Link DVI/Display Port is not a real 120Hz monitor (HDMI 1.4 don't have enough bandwith) and basically you are wasting money on an overpriced 60Hz monitor. Anyways since your budget is RM1.2k, I'd say the Alienware monitor should fit in your budget

The Alienware doesn't come with a 3d glass right? So what do you recommend for the budget of RM1k?I want to connect it with my laptop, makes it dual screen! Or should I just go for LED TVs?

Alienware comes with nVidia 3D glasses, but then you need an nvidia card to make it work. If you are using it not for gaming, then Viewnet is selling the Acer HS244HQ 3D monitor for RM800 (give or take)
