QUOTE(junky_89 @ Nov 9 2014, 04:39 PM) i did some research back in school related to the healthcare industrypharmacies, especially independents, are struggling big time. drug companies too. the government controls very tightly the prices that drugs can be sold, so margins can be very low. if you're part of a giant chain or maybe if you're an industrial pharmacist, it might be ok. independent retail, big no no. |

QUOTE(junky_89 @ Nov 9 2014, 07:32 PM) lol, how would i know how much graduate pharmacists get paid. this is a case where the variance estimate would be more accurate than the estimate itself.best you can look for is the industry surveys. but these are flawed so don't take them too seriously. small sample size, respondent bias, etc. you can also look at average salaries and average graduate salaries and try to guess how much higher or lower a pharmacist graduate's pay should be relative to that. |

QUOTE(junky_89 @ Nov 9 2014, 07:32 PM) Generally about 38k a year. About 10 percent to 15 percent more if you work in government.I know a few Malaysians who do pharmacy and after about 2 to 4 years, the upper percentile is generally around 55 to 60 grand if in private industry. http://www.professionalsaustralia.org.au/g...s/advocacy/pay/ The Professionals Australia survey is a pretty good indicator for pharmacists and engineers because they only take surveys from verified members of the profession. You can also pay for their more in depth reports, I find them quite valuable when trying to bargain with my employer. This post has been edited by empire23: Nov 10 2014, 12:35 PM |

QUOTE(junky_89 @ Nov 10 2014, 01:52 PM) The reason is there's whole bunch phamarcist out there! So stop taking this profession. Same goes to doctor. The salary not that high but different stories to dentist. They're driving big cars and big house. The other one is surgeon. They earn humongous salary. My neighbour his daughter married a surgeon. He only work 3 days per week but his salary is 150k/annum. Very young bloke at early 30s. His wife is accountant and both of them are very young professional. Conclusion is maybe you becoming a plastic surgeon may earn you a superb salary... There's bunch of civil engineers outthere looking for job now. All walk in asking for work. Certain industry now is tough. So when you earn money make sure allocate some for future risk....in case any shit happens |

QUOTE(rawrkun @ Nov 10 2014, 09:24 PM) I'm from civil engineering background and will be heading there soon Well the professional year costs a shatload of money, that's for sure. But it might be your ticket into industry depending on your qualifications. It's 16 grand and if you count in the fact for that whole year you aren't making too much dosh and have to pay for living costs as well that's nearly 100k ringgit. if I ended up in another field so be it, hahahaha.. btw anyone here knows anything about the aus professional engineering year? Well if you're a dirt doctor it might be a lot better to look up all the companies building pipelines and gathering networks as they're taking in a lot of graduates right now. QUOTE(LightningFist @ Nov 11 2014, 07:08 PM) All the good grad jobs are taken up by locals with connections haha, I mean we have 2 freshies here making 130k a year because of their parents friends. We immigrants get whatever's left and what no one wants. |

Well, my friend, you just pin point the actual situation! hahaWell if you're a dirt doctor it might be a lot better to look up all the companies building pipelines and gathering networks as they're taking in a lot of graduates right now. We immigrants get whatever's left and what no one wants. My job now is for angmoh is very stress and dealing with numbers. However, after been thru 14 years in KL really paid off. Sometimes it's like bushfire but consider small fire. Not like KL we're really working in 'forest fire'! Anyway, I would say for new migrants really need to jump into those jobs which no angmoh wanna do. Get experience at least a year then jump. |
