QUOTE(ongdennis @ Dec 28 2011, 11:15 AM) Finish my 3rd stages n get the trophy at 11.3k k m Moderator, bring this useful info to the 1st page. The filter is made in Thailand. Not import from Japan. Go home I take photo n upload here.I believe it should be share with there model also.if car manufacturer always make specific part for every model then is hard for them to earn money. part number for the filter they replace » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « the filter being take out » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « but guys...i check the part number online, it seem like for jazz and city one...and the part number is diff compare to web that is 80291-TF0-E01. tio con? Added on December 28, 2011, 1:50 pmok...fellows, honestly i not very "song" now after know that the replacement cabin air filter is so expensive and not really actual part for insight. so i write this DIY for u all. it really that simple until gal also can do it. What tools u need: nothing...just you hands and confirm it wont dirty ur hand at all. Steps: 1. open ur glove box and remove all things inside 2. check on the top part on the glove box, press in both side and glove box will go down. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 3. there is one hook on left bottom that act like a slower when u open ur glove box. just push toward the firewall n the hook will come out » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 4. after the hook come out, it look like this and ur glove box can open until all ur things drop out (if u no remove them at step 1) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 5. now u see the air con blower behind the glove box » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 6. take out the cover and u will see the filter (my one already remove to snap photo and comparison). pull out ur filter and slot in a new one. make sure the air flow sign is facing down (the sign is on the filter itself). » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 7. put back the filter cover. 8. install back ur glove box to it ori place. 9. lastly only put back the hook. Here are the comparison on the ori and the newly replace filter » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The ori one have those small black things. For those who already change the filter during last service, if u dont mind pls check if this also happen to you. If they return u the old filter inside the new filter packing, pls have a look on the part number. If their standard is using 80292-TG0-Q01 to replace our cabin air filter, then i will recommend others go outside and buy this filter urself and DIY. no point paying RM90 (after discount) for such an easy job |

Hi guys, on the air filter smell issues, I would like to ask those who got their air filters replaced, did they replace the same type of carbon filter back for u?
Reason I asking is, the air cond smell maybe an indirect side effect of having charcoal based filter, vs a normal hepa filter... If thats the case, it maybe an inconvenience I can live with... vs a product defect. So... id really like to know if those who got the air filter replaced, can share which type of filter they gave u? Same carbon/black type or pure white? |

QUOTE(cbinn @ Dec 29 2011, 12:17 AM) After reading the post about air filter, I took out mine just now and inspected it under bright light and magnifying glass. I think it looks black not only because it is a bit dusty, it is also because the filter got a layer of carbon material sandwiched in between the paper surface (I supposed for bad smell absorption). I wonder why the replacement filter we are getting from the service center is pure white instead of the same type that comes with the brand new car. I spoke with my sc, he say if replace original, they will use the black carbon filter also sure will have the smell, so just want to check with the others..The following is what I had done with my filter, as I am no where near to visiting the service center for a replacement, and I was thinking, what the heck, just try it, if it works, I save the money by not replacing the filter (cause apart from the bad smell, the filter still looks relatively new), if it doesn't, I will just throw it away and but a new one from parts shop tomorrow morning. I knocked my filter lightly on floor, can see dust fly out and some very fine sand particle get dislodged. Blowed it lightly with air blower and brushed with paint brush, knocked lightly again, repeat the procedure a few times until I am quite confirmed all the dust and sand I can get rid off were already out. At first I am thinking of flushing it using light flow of water, but worried it may damage the glue holding the filter together or even distort the paper/carbon layer, so I gave up that idea (this filter was not designed to be washable anyway). After physical cleaning, I put it near my nose and smell it, confirmed, that's the mouldy smell I am getting from my aircond everyday (especially when compressor is off for long and air gets a bit warm during auto-stop). So for the smell part, first of all, I sprayed the filter lightly with Febreze, leave it to absorb and dry a while, then i blow the filter using mild warm (hand touchable) heat with a hair dryer (becareful not to put the hairdryer too close or use too high temperature as hot hair will damage the paper surface and melts the glue). You can repeat this setps if you are still not satisfied, but I would say the bad smell on my filter was about 90% gone after the first round (not sure that's the effect of the Febreze or because of the mild heat from the hair dryer, don't care, as long as it works). Anyway, credit and great thanks to members of this forum that brings up the topic, sharing the steps (summore with pictorial guide, this is better than Honda's website FAQ) for the benefit of all other members. |

That's what im thinking about.... if it's a normal thing or not...
Or if you ask them to change because of that smell, will they downgrade to the non carbon type... because, we complain smell. And apparently.... they say all the black type will have this smell... |
