IMO... if we're changing engine oil every 5k, there's no need for fully-syn. semi-syn oil is more than enough to last the 5k service interval.

bear in mind most fully-syn oils are developed w/the idea that it will last for longer service intervals (10k++).
*
The honda service package price stated is including using the mineral oil. If wanna to use semi-syn oil, need top up difference of RM20++.
Read somewhere, it mentioned that mineral oil is good for 5k, while semi-syn is 7-8k. Since we are force by Honda to service every 5k interval, why not use the default mineral oil instead? I will opt to use default mineral oil for my 15k service n see the difference... update u guys then.. or anyone tried?

i tot inisght is default semi-syn one.

but top up rm20++ is cheap anyway. i would rather treat my insight nicer by letting it to drink a better engine oil despite we do service at every 5k.

我的大镜等了2个月多,claim保险rm4000, 自己出rm280"

Woke up this morning and found that my rear right hand side tire is total flat! Drove slowly slowly to the petrol station very near by (<100m) and inflate the tire. Drove to the nearest tire shop for checkup. It was found that a piece of small plastic like those from broken car lamp was stuck inside. The tire was patched and it goes well for now but the worry part is it probably cannot last!! The mechanic told me that moving with a flat tire could hurt the internal "wall" .. and could probably heat up fast and go burst while traveling long distance... WORRY WORRY. How true is it?? only travel a short short distance with tire flat.. Is there any method that could check the internal tire and its durability? Will be waste for changing the tire of < 6 months old... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

do you drive h/ways alot + speed? if you do, better be safe than sorry, and change to a new tyre. if you drive in town areas/always jam/can't go fast, then leave it lah. chances of a high speed blowout are much lesser.
*
that's what the mechanic told me too.. will monitor the tire n see how. thanks for all the advice.

I defend cause she is stupid... common... Honda already agree to her to replace her IMA battery... what else does she want more... pay for her petrol as well??? stupid...

I also believe in Honda technology, cause I used to work for them (not anymore) and I know Honda has been conducting experiment on Hybrid in Malaysia for more than 10 years (yes in Malaysia it started on the 1.7 civic at year 2000)

she is a golden egg owner, no one if perfect, I doubt that Latifah bi*ch is perfect... if people agree to take the responsibility then case close lah...

I believe in give and take, and be reasonable or else people will start to treat you like a dog if you treat them like a DOG....

Do not be too over optimistic on the fuel savings you will get from an Insight. Myvi is relatively economical. Whatever savings you will make will be lost during the services. I am assuming your Myvi does not need to be serviced at Perodua SC anymore. Stay debt free...

I had to change because my old car is starting to give me hefty repair bills and it is not able to cater for my needs.
*
If your intention is to upgrade to car like vios, city, the < 100k car.. take Honda Insight. If you thinking of saving.. stick to your current myvi car.

They tell me after this until my insurance due, windscreen coverage are not valid nemore. cannot claim nemore unless renew coverage. need to pay same rate if wants to cover for 5 months left.

i guess just needs to be extra careful until renew rtax/insurance again. *phew
*
Tinted also can claim... so generous so nice! Your SC got special relationship with the insurance company?

This is a serious matter, bro. There are irregular practices among Honda service centers, even they are under the same umbrella. I think this due to the fact that HM has no direct control over the these SC, unlike UMW has over their SC whereby all of these SC's operation is being regulated by UMW. Correct me if I'm wrong.
To me, it seems like the dealers are actually running the show behind these SC. Why is it that I'm getting 7k service interval while others offer 5k service interval only? Worse, some didn't even return the balance engine oil. At least HM has to ensure service operation is standardize across all SC.
*
Yar. Is a huge issue if some SC allow 7k service interval and some not. Have anyone make a complain? What is HM feedback?

Done my 15k service last week.

By default, they are using SM 5W-30 Engine Oil (Semi) (RM99.80) and not the mineral oil as stated from honda website.
Remember to claim the RM40 e-voucher. The first bill they issue only deduct RM 20 for the e-voucher, but after verify again and they made some several calls, they issue me another bill with the deduction of RM40. rclxms.gif

The next service (20k) will be very expensive!! RM 400 plus.. sweat. sweat...

anyway, did you ask them why the semi sync engine oil would last for 5km only instead of 7.5km?
*
Will poke them the question during next service. But they will probably say is the "rule". What can you do then? Unless we together made a official request/complain to HM to allow a longer service period or else still back to square.

My friend, I think you should enable the autolock function. the autolock function only works if you meet the followings:_

1) You have armed the car using your remote.

2) You unlock/unarmed the car using the remote but you did not open the doors within 30 seconds.

The car will relock and armed. It is very useful function in case you accidently press unlock button but you have no intention to open the car. There is no way you could lock the keys inside accidently with that function. The problem with Insight is the alarm got no sound when you open or close so that function helps to avoid unintentional unlocking.
*
Thanks for sharing. Noob me.. after driving the car for 6 months only come to know this function. There are few occasion that the car autolock, i thought that the alarm must be having problem ! lol.

Come to think about it.. the autolock shall also able to lock the car when the engine is on? Like turn on engine, then 30 sec it auto lock... but why this is not happening? Or there must be a way to enable it ? Any suggestion?

Ok, important information to all about WARRANTY.

At page 360 of the manual "HOWEVER, SERVICE AT A DEALER IS NOT MANDATORY TO KEEP YOUR WARRANTIES IN EFFECT"

At page 363, service under severe condition is for every 5000KM or 6 MONTHS.

HM must be hating me.

So meaning to say that by showing this to the SC, we shall able to have longer service interval? hmm.gif hmm.gif
