I was considering getting a gecko - but then I stumbled upon this thread and omg! Hedgehog #FTW ! Lol

So now I'm very seriously considering getting a hedgehog, I have inquired with some breeders in the pet store section.

Any tips for a new hedge owner? In terms of housing, care etc? - I have read the entire front page, just looking for added tips smile.gif

Thanks.

as a caretaker priority should be being as loving and caring as you could towards your hog, it opening up to you is a bonus. they all have preferences after all, just like humans tongue.gif

if you're planning on housing your hedgehog in a storage box, i'd still recommend planning out ample play time for it in a garden / lawn or huge open spaces. even if it has a wheel. wheeling and running in open spaces would prevent your hog from getting bored, imho tongue.gif

those um togoyo boxes works, make sure you get _the_ biggest one possible. they're around 80~100myr iirc. but as i said even if you get those you'd still need to provide some playtime for your future hog in a bigger space. (lawn / inside the house)

hang in there, she'll open up to you eventually. point in case, telileti tamed the mighty lord huffington!

but as i said, main objective should be to care for it the best you could, not break it's iron will to treat you as a threat :P

Actually no. I deemed him untamable. whistling.gif
He's a real piece of work.
He attack my hands all the time & is extremely nervous. Some hedgies are just very nervous.

Your hedgie is afraid of you because he doesn't know you yet. Once he does, he'll be comfortable around you.
Try letting him sniff your hand before picking him up.

Her dad looks cute blush.gif blush.gif

She is lots more friendlier towards me =]
In the morning around 4-6 am , she will make scratching noises and always manage to wake me up .
When I go to have a look at her , she will start putting her snout high up and sniff .
Whenever she does that I will put my hand in her cage and she will climb up my hand .
I will let it off around my room , where she will hide in my clothes and destroy them by poking holes on them cry.gif
Around 7 or 8 I will wake to feed it .
She always run around my room , exploring , pee-ing , pooping , and leaving mess for me unsure.gif

But she is still very cute and precious to me wub.gif My brother used to call her mean though o.o cause she always charge him with her quills xD

Haha everyone's baby is so cute XD Mine has already warmed up to me (especially if i have mealworm with me) though she is still bad tempered if someone disturb her in her sleep. But somehow i still prefer her when she's defensive (the curl in a ball of spikes is ADORABLE) now she hardly ever curls in a ball more thn 2 sec D:

Oh and for cage I use normal cat cage but I have to use fleece for the floor so their legs dont fall through. and mind you even with the cage door close she can escape through the bars somehow so i rather leave the door open so she dont try it again X_x I just close the toilet door so she can come out whenever she wants
