GOSH! Nephthys gave me a huge scare this morning, she suddenly went missing X_x made me so crazy worried that she ran downstairs and disappeared. Need to rampage the whole room in search of her, which I found her poop here and there, which means this wasn't the first time she left the toilet to go exploring around my room. Finally found her in a box under my roommate's bed...

Now i'm wide awake even tho i haven't slept since last night O_O

She needs a wheel no doubt...

I think she emo and left her box coz i stuff my t-shirt in it for her to snuggle with last night, maybe she don't like my smell Q_Q

the ants problem can be solved easily with the "ant powder" that can be bought in any hardware shops or pasar malam....only cost around rm0.50 to rm1 per pack....

as for the mealworms, do not wet them with any water at all....like suggested by the others, oats + carrots will be the best feed.....
btw, i saw alot of vomit in Rosie's home yesterday...now i starting to get worried as she is not eating the kibbles and drink very little water daily....all she do it sleep and running on the wheel when she is awake....will take one or two mealworms sometimes but thats all it...she will stop eating right after that...  icon_question.gif

it just hit me. is it really safe to feed our hogs mealworms gut loaded with oats? i doubt the mealworms actually digest the oats that well and mind you oats absorbs a lot of fluid. they continue doing so even once in the stomach. stomach ulcer caused by consuming dried oats is nothing but common to those (humans) that don't consume lots of water after doing so. and from what i observe lil doesn't either.

food for thought.

I'm not sure about this.

Somehow, my mealies seems to get infertile. Perhaps a long generation of inbreeding?

I've kept them for around 7 - 8 months. Anyone with the same duration and face the same problem?

Whatever u gut load ur worm with...your hedgie gets it
so my suggestion is...gut load them with vegies like carrots, those leafy stuff...
else, if u just give bread to the mealies, indirectly u r jsut feeding ur hedgie bread & fats from the Mealies..
dun get any other nutrition...

I think its best to feed the juicy live ones coz the dry ones might cause indigestion D:

Omg!! Today I was cleaning the mess of my hedgehog enclosure.
As always its a mess so I'll be cleaning while letting him explore around.
Today, he run back to his enclosure and I jus continue cleanibg.
Then he wanted to go out so I'm willing to assist him out of it.
So I let his sniff my hand first and POM!! Here he bite!!!
This is my very first time that he bites me but wad I can say is that, it doesnt hurt even though it bleed.

Ok about this,, I have sort of a weird and bad experience in this.. I was cleaning cottie's cage and she came to me and sniff my fingers, when I see her open her mouth to bite, I wanted to avoid by pulling my hand away, but she got me first.. And together I yank my hand with her biting on me and she FLEW to the side and hit the wall of the cage.. but she is fone nevertheless. I hope T.T

I feel sad for myself as an owner..

you really shouldn't pull away when they're attempting to bite you, it'll hurt them more doing so >_<

You misunderstood me. I always try not to let them bite by pulling my hand away, this time I pulled my hand 0.2 secs too late and she got me first, and at the same time I pulled my hand away, thus it happened. So it was sort of an accident sad.gif

yeah, what i meant was it's better to be prepared for a bite than preparing to pull away. failing on doing the latter would result in, well yeah tongue.gif

that and i was directing it mainly to sowhon. leave the finger yoinking to the pros! or pros in training such as rexeren, lol

Yep, poking definitely hurt more thn biting, or maybe coz i'm used to playing with cats and dogs too much... cats play = kena bite and wrestle with hand dog play = wrestle with whole body + your whole arm become chew bone sweat.gif
