Early this year I went to BNM to print a copy of my credit report and I was surprised to notice that my previous 3 credit cards with Alliance Bank which had already been cancelled for years were still shown in the credit report. I immediately made a complaint to Alliance Bank who purposely did not cancel the cards even though I had requested to terminate the 3 cards through written letters and cancellation via branch. One week after my complaint, I receive 3 separate letters from Alliance Bank stating the cards have been cancelled with immediate effect.
This afternoon I went to BNM to get the latest copy of my credit report. And finally, the previous 3 cards with Alliance Bank are no longer in the credit report. I urge those ex-Alliance cardholders to check the record at BNM, as most of the time the cunning Alliance Bank would not officially cancel your cards although you have requested for card cancellation.
As compared to other banks like MBB and SCB, my Amex Gold credit card and SCB Preferred WMC which were cancelled in April this year had instantly been removed by the banks and were not shown in my latest credit record.

Dear forummers,
Please be informed that Maybank does not implement "3 days grace period" for payment made to credit card account. I was just advised by Maybank Platinum Services. He said "MBB has never implemented and never aware of that grace period".
And because of my negligence, my 3-day late payment (23/8, due 20/8) to MBB credit card had incurred finance charge.

I believe there is a misunderstanding on your part regarding what the grace period means with MBB CS miscommunicating to you (or you understood him/her wrongly). If you refer to the ABM press release linked below, banks will not charge you late payment fees for valid payments received up to 3 days from statement date. Late payment fees here refer to the 1% late payment charge (min RM5/max RM50). It does not refer to the finance charges, of which banks can apply or ignore. In my experience, MBB and CIMB charges, OCBC does not. For the benefit of other members, valid payments above is defined as cleared payments. That means if you deposit a cheque 2-3 days after the deadline, you can expect to get charged late fees as it will only clear after the grace period. http://www.abm.org.my/upload/Further%20rel...dit%20cards.pdf

I see. So I managed to escape from late payment fee. But finance charge was still applicable. Thanks for your kind explanation.

Credit cards application / eligibility requirements require you to show proof of income of a minimum of RM24K per annum. This is set by BNM and practiced by all banks in Malaysia. The answer is NO since you wanted (or your cousin) wanted a credit card.
