QUOTE(mdlan @ May 28 2011, 07:04 PM) - I want to buy something that worth RM4000, and if the minimum pay is 5% from RM4000 it will be RM225, so i decide to pay RM300 monthly, that mean i will be in good standing right? how about the interest charge? and i still blur about the Interest rate (% p.a.) what this thing mean actually? from what i understand that mean if i still have hutang after 1 year the interest will be 13.5% right? example after 1 year i still got hutang left RM300 then 13.5% from RM300 is RM40.5 , so i have to pay that? how about if i can finish the debt in less then 1 year? Interest for credit card is not counted using simple arithmetic. Interest is calculated daily and compounded (unless this is a Islamic card). A simple online search will allow you to find credit card interest calculators which will be a good estimate of how much interest you will need to pay, which will be a lot more than RM40.50. Hint: Do an IPP if the option is available.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 3 2011, 09:25 PM) Is the above correct? Comments are most appreciated. Note that credit card interest is calculated daily on compounded basis, so while your example isn't very wrong at the start, the error margin will get bigger as time passes.

QUOTE(WhoIsKenneth @ Jun 29 2011, 12:32 AM) Hey guys, I have a question. Are the credit card interest count by monthly or annually? Say I didn't pay my min this month or didn't pay on time? Thx You might be happy to know credit card interest is neither monthly or annual basis, it is compounded daily. If you didn't pay at least the minimum every month, you will be subject to maximum interest rate of 17.5% for retail transactions. Read the back of your credit card statement for more details and if you don't understand what is shown, the explanation below is a decent start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_card#Interest_charges

QUOTE(chemistry @ Aug 5 2011, 08:18 PM) He can opt to cancel the card without having to pay annual fee. AFAIK, annual fee is for next year's usage. This is only true for cards with free first year annual fee. Looking at their site, MBB WMC does not appear to be such a card.

QUOTE(evolance7 @ Aug 9 2011, 11:15 PM) Guys, I use Maybank Cherry Card. My problem is that I forgot mah password for the Verified by Visa process, and it says that it locked mah account. My question is, how to unlock it? I called Maybank, wasted rm20 on it because they keep connecting me to other department... Please can anyone tell me the proper procedure... VfV for MBB debit cards is done through M2U and a password isn't needed unless you had forgot your M2U password. And BTW, wrong thread.

QUOTE(hye @ Aug 13 2011, 05:23 PM) Debatable coz by imposing such condition, it is in directly confrontation of existing liability cap as set by BNM. I guess we could confirm this by asking BNM directly whether the legal liability cap for fraudulent transactions is RM250 or the sky is the limit as set by MBB. Very few banks will tell you upfront about this particular BNM guideline, so this T&C is not unusual at all. But for those interested, the following 2 links are worth reading. http://www.abm.org.my/ABM%27s_Press_Statem...redit_card.aspxhttp://www.loyarburok.com/2010/01/16/those...nd-bank-negara/

QUOTE(saksoba @ Aug 27 2011, 12:05 PM) Sorry If my question is a bit confusing.. Because, I'm not sure how to ask regarding this one Regarding your link, MY credit cards works on a variation of the 2nd type with daily compound interest. You seem to have read a lot, mind elaborating exactly what you want to know instead of c&p? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_card#Interest_charges

QUOTE(saksoba @ Aug 27 2011, 03:46 PM) Therefore, that is why my question popup in my mind. If I allocate RM1000 for paying CC, should I paid evenly like RM500 for each card or allocate higher amount to CC which have more debt? In this case, Maybank2 card. M2 cards have the exact same interest structure, it does not matter which one you pay first. If you require the use of the card, clear the statement balance of one card so you can enjoy the interest-free period for at least that card. If your debts are accumulating faster than you can pay it, you should reconsider whether it's wise to have any CC at all.

QUOTE(chemistry @ Sep 3 2011, 12:59 AM) Dear forummers, Please be informed that Maybank does not implement "3 days grace period" for payment made to credit card account. I was just advised by Maybank Platinum Services. He said "MBB has never implemented and never aware of that grace period". And because of my negligence, my 3-day late payment (23/8, due 20/8) to MBB credit card had incurred finance charge. I believe there is a misunderstanding on your part regarding what the grace period means with MBB CS miscommunicating to you (or you understood him/her wrongly). If you refer to the ABM press release linked below, banks will not charge you late payment fees for valid payments received up to 3 days from statement date. Late payment fees here refer to the 1% late payment charge (min RM5/max RM50). It does not refer to the finance charges, of which banks can apply or ignore. In my experience, MBB and CIMB charges, OCBC does not. For the benefit of other members, valid payments above is defined as cleared payments. That means if you deposit a cheque 2-3 days after the deadline, you can expect to get charged late fees as it will only clear after the grace period. http://www.abm.org.my/upload/Further%20rel...dit%20cards.pdf

QUOTE(cenkudu @ Sep 5 2011, 10:44 AM) anyone received a call from their banks regarding crisis shield plus coverage. no premium if we have 0 outstanding balance but will charge if we have outstanding balance. I'm not interested with this one but the way she spoke like I'm the only one who decline to receive the offer. This is entirely normal and just about all CC issuers in MY offers it. Please note that they should not ask for any personal details (e.g. CC/CVV/IC numbers) and if have any doubt, call your card issuer to verify.

QUOTE(soitsuagain @ Sep 9 2011, 10:16 PM) What can I do so that Maybank will report my new credit limit on CCRIS? They last increased my credit limit this January and it has been 9 months now. I need to know so that I can word my request properly as I do not want a backlash from them cause if it happens I scared they won't increase my credit limit for this year heh. CL info along with repayment info is updated in CCRIS with a 2-3 months lag.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Sep 30 2011, 11:25 AM) I myself will be worst off lah, no CL and no more 0% loans. But don't worry lah, the banks will find a loop hole for your case. But at least the newcomers will not be caught in the debt traps. This is more of a philosophical question and not directed at you personally: You have benefited from the current situation and we will always have financially foolish people around. Such people will have issues one way or the other. Is it fair to stop other people from potentially enjoying the benefits you are getting?

QUOTE(hye @ Oct 11 2011, 10:03 AM) Note : Little is known about Maybank payment hierarchy policy thus one may incur a lot of interest. Effective this month, all banks in Malaysia have standardised on the same credit card payment hierarchy of which repayments will be allocated towards items which attract the highest to lowest interest charges. Someone had posted a news article about this some time back but I can't find it. Checking BNM and ABM's site did not yield anything but some banks have already updated their site regarding this.

QUOTE(axis_lua @ Nov 4 2011, 05:29 PM) On October 1st i saw this promotion and head down to epicenter to purchase my MBA with mastercard. I called them when i saw that my card wasn't credited with the correct x6 points. They told me the points will be credited at the end of month. However, at the end of months i was credited with my installment bill but no points and called them up again and they told me the promotion stated that its only for AMEX? We went there with 3 people using Mastercard, all 3 of us saw the promotion was for Visa/Mastercard and i even called the helpdesk to confirm. After 1 month, the T&C suddenly change instead of 6x we get 1x points. IS THIS A SCAM? D: WHAT DO I DO? D: Did you do Ezypay for your MBA? If yes, you got a good change to get the extra 5x TP.

QUOTE(Garruk @ Nov 13 2011, 09:27 PM) can we have both paper statement and online statement together? For MBB, if you opt for online statements, you agree to no longer receive paper statements. They say they will charge if you want both, but I'm not sure if they actually do charge.
