Could the scenario below take place?
QUOTE 1. A person submits a CC application through a third party agent or a bank staff who dealt with CC application (agent?). 2. The agent / bank staff ammended the application form before forwarding it to the processing department (address, phone no, signature). 3. The CC application gets approval by the processing department (innocent party), but mailed to the 'new' address'. 4. The signature and verification details have been changed, so getting authorization is easy (mother's maiden name, DOB, IC no etc). 5. The card can now be used for transactions and charged to the original person who may not even aware about it until it is too late (the name and IC no remains unchanged). An elaborate fraud scheme. |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jun 17 2011, 11:56 AM) A very elaborate scheme indeed. However, within the bank itself each processing form/customer will be tagged to a particular handler and even the approving party is tagged. I'm not saying it is impossible to commit the cheat but the offending party within the bank will be identified just as quickly as well. I need not say what will happen to the respective staff who is caught doing so - very clear the punishment will be severe as the bank do not want to jeopardize their name over such incidents and customers would not be too happy over document security problems. QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jun 17 2011, 11:56 AM) Possible, but nowadays when bank send you credit card via post, its marked as must be received and signed by recipient with proof of IC. 2 of my latest cards from MBB and CIMB ended up being sent back to the nearest Post Office because I wasn't at home to sign it and they wouldn't allow anyone else in my family to do it on my behalf. In the end I had to go to the post office on Saturdays to collect it with my IC. They wouldn't even allow delivery to another address other than the one stated in the application. On the other hand, I had applied for a card via roadshow agent by just giving minimal details, photocopy IC and signature, and the agent applied a co-Branded card for me instead of the normal card. In this case it didn't matter that much since the card is eligible for all the promotion benefits, but for cases that you want a specific card and the agent ticked a different card for you I can imagine its quite frustrating. In that case, if we can prove that the submission has been tampered after submission, then it's ok.

Would it be better if you included Smart$ into the table as well because you have included TreatPoints into MBB2 Amex? If want to leave out the Smart$, then maybe should also leave out the TP for MBB2 Amex so that can compare apple to apple.http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...-cash-back.html did a table too comparing cash back between OCBC TMC, Citi Plat CB, MBB 2 Amex and UOB 1 CArd » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Also did a comparison to determine the cash back from the four cards above, and as you all know, MBB 2 the best lah. |

dont know why my topic was deleted, seems like some people are overzealous in their attempts to keep the boards clean?
Anyway I would really like some advice. I'm currently overseas and might be running out of cash. I only have my credit card (maybank2 cc), didn't bring my ATM. Is it possible to use the credit card on their ATMs to withdraw? ATMs will ask for a PIN number but I don't have one for my CC. Can I call maybank to give me a PIN? Thank you |

QUOTE(parsona @ Jun 19 2011, 01:19 AM) Anyway I would really like some advice. Topic is justified if it is a discussion and not if the question will require only an answer. This is not a Kopitiam discussion area where a question is a topic. Anyone who want some advise - ask in the right way and area and I'm sure a good soul will come by and provide answers. Unnecessary sarcasm towards this is not appreciated nor will it be tolerated - Period.I'm currently overseas and might be running out of cash. Can I call maybank to give me a PIN? Thank you Maybank will not provide you with a PIN over the phone nor will any bank will do so as this contravenes the security procedure of the credit card PIN's. For Maybank you need to do it at the branch where you will be authenticated via your MyKad before the PIN is generated for you. Other banks, you need to call in (or write in) where they will post the PIN to you via snail mail. And yes, it is possible to withdraw via credit card but be aware of the high interest rates and cash withdrawal charges which will be imposed from the day the withdrawal is made. We do not advise to use this method unless it is a total emergency which cannot be avoided. This post has been edited by hye: Jun 19 2011, 07:59 AM |

You got a point, if the One Card earns you 7% cash back at BHP, then it is excellent, but it is only at BHP and not at ESSO and Shell, therefore if I were to state 7% for petrol in the table then it would not be apple to apple also. On top of that, I would then also need to mentioned Smiles points and Bonuslink points at ESSO and Shell to make it apple to apple too, haha Then for cinema, I have to state that Citibank gives 1 for 1 free tickets (up to 2 for 2) at TGV too...... BUT I remember more than 20 years ago in USA, anyone can go to the banks and withdraw cash with credit cards over the counter with the tellers. If there is a MasterCard or Visa logo on the bank door, most probably I guess you still can do so. Check it out. My advise to all, get a Debit Card for overseas cash witdrawal, while in US 2 years ago, I had no problems withdrawing cash with my UOB Debit Card at many of the ATM but couldn't do so with my RHB Debit Card This post has been edited by Gen-X: Jun 19 2011, 09:49 AM |

QUOTE(parsona @ Jun 19 2011, 11:05 AM) Thanks for the replies. When you say high interest rates, does it mean interest will be charged from the day of withdrawal, and I am still subject to paying interest even if I clear my CC balance on time? 1. Interest will be charged from the day of withdrawal + the withdrawal fees which is a minimum of RM100 (depends on bank T&C) or 5% of withdrawal value. (Whichever is higher ... yes ... whichever is higher)Thank you for your suggestion for over the counter bank withdrawal. I will try this tomorrow. Can anyone confirm if this can still be done? 2. Oh yes ... over the counter bank withdrawal. Bring your credit card + passport to a reputable bank during office hours and they may allow you to withdraw over the counter. 50%-50% chance. |

Read below link where I touched on cash withdrawal briefly and go to MBB site to read more on the T&CCredit Cards Are Cash Cow for Banks. Are You Wroking For The Banks? And by the way, withdrawing cash from bank tellers are imposed the same interest rate as withdrawing from cash machines and not sure if there are additional fees.
