Bravo bro Gen-X on another great contribution!
Kindof ironic that others are copying your content.

Anyway ... I agree with you that the "surprise credit card" is now exclusive. I'm sure some of the super elites of this thread cannot own this card although they are eligible for it.

As for the top end of the Premium cards, while only a selected few will own the card but in my opinion the mid range Premium cards privileges are better in some aspect. What's the point of holding a super exclusive card but you don't get anything much out of it ? But again, this may be up to the preference of each individuals.

Mastercard premium cards are sometimes referred to as Preferred Mastercard but this is often used with banks outside of Malaysia. In Malaysia, they are simply called World Mastercard.

HSBC Malaysia now issues Platinum cards to only Advance account holders and the default card one can apply without having deposits with the bank is the HSBC Signature.

Pay slip or alternatively EA, Tax Submission and other proof of permanent income.
As for CL the default answer would be 2x of your income but the final credit limit depends on the bank's discretion.

I believe your existing CL is perhaps higher than your 2x income ?

My article on Premier Cards had to take a back seat last weekend as I was on a mission.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Just posted my article titled Malaysia Premier Credit Cards - Which Is The Best For You?

In my article Entry Level Credit Cards - Which Is The Best For You? I have mentioned what I thought was the worst credit card in Malaysia.

In my article Platinum Credit Cards - Which Is Best For You? some may not agree with my choice of Highest Rank Plat cards.

Before you go read my final article on series of different categories of CC, please take a moment to think what your answers will be to the following questions:

1. In your opinion, what card is the Most Prestigious Credit Card in Malaysia?
2. In your opinion, what card is the Most Exclusive Credit Card in Malaysia?
3. In your opinion, what cards gives you "status"?
4. In your opinion, which card proves that you have reached the epitome of success?

Once you have identified the cards above,  click here to read my article Malaysia Premier Credit Cards - Which Is The Best For You? and see if I share your opinions  tongue.gif

Excellent article! I enjoyed reading it and so will many forummers here.

I agree the most prestigious credit cards in town are the two you mentioned: RHB Visa Infinite and CIMB Enrich WMC. Being in an industry where i'm privileged enough to see the truly wealthy flash their plastics, I can testify these two cards are most often used by the creme de la creme. They're not your average millionaires but more often multi millionaires or even billionaires.

As for the case of CIMB WMC and VI's minimum CL, i know a friend who has 60k CL, therefore effectively reducing the minimum CL of this card to <100k smile.gif

A further check with CIMB Banks confirms that existing CIMB Enrich Platinum cardholder may request to be "invited" for the CIMB Enrich WMC subject to annual spending of RM 500k> on their existing card. Of course this is subject to final management approval. There is a special department in the bank in charge of handling cardholders and invitations of CIMB Enrich WMC headed by a wise gentleman who goes by the name of Michael Wee. It has come to my knowledge this gentleman has the final say when it comes to the invitation and approval of CIMB Enrich WMC.

Having said that, since i'm one of those Enrich miles junkie, the best card that suits me is still MBB WMC and possibly MBB VI where the conversion rate is second to none.

Off topic, I must also say another favourite among these truly wealthy individuals is the American Express Platinum Charge Card (since the ultra exclusive Centurion Black Card isn't going to be available in Malaysia until Jan 2012). I am guessing it has to do with the fact that it does not have pre-set spending limit therefore allowing them to go beyond the CLs of their existing other premier credit cards and the fact that by using this charge card is a testament that they are paying in full and not going to stretch the payment for that particular splurge. This also boils down to the fact that in order to obtain the American Express Platinum Charge Card, a strong bank statement balance is required in addition to the standard payslips and BE Form as required by other card issuer. In other words even if you are earning RM 50k monthly but your bank statement is not strong and your balance is low, there is no way you are going to get it.

Thank you bro for the kind words.

Yah, agree the mid range cards better. And the reason why the cards are super exclusive is because like you say - there is no point holding it, hahaha

Thanks for reading my article. Yes, I do consider SCB Preferred WMC a Premier Card because you need to earn more than a Plat card to qualify for one. But the benefits are like nothing and that is why did not bother to mention it.

Thanks for reading Bro and I am glad you enjoyed it. I thought the many words would have frighten most away, haha

As for CIMB WMC CL, I guess now that the card is offered via Preffered Banking, it only make sense that the CL be reduced.

As for AMEX Plat Charge Card - I was offered to upgrade to it without any request of docs. But being a cheapskate, I prefer to go with FREE fakes AMEX Black cards tongue.gif And as for no pre-set spending limit, that is not true, more like post set credit limit where it increases with your spending and payment pattern. All charge AMEX charge card (maybe except the Black Card) has spending limit. I guess you forgot about your case where you posted that your transaction for a RM100K watch was initially rejected by AMEX until you "taruk" them left right center, hahaha. My Gold Charge Card credit line is even higher than some of my Premier Cards.

Reason is due to total exposure. If you understood this then you'll understand your actual CL in the eyes of the banks is actually RM28K and that is 7x your income.

I think it's better to be upfront with the readers of this forum. So many asking to upgrade to Platinum and it'll be scary if they are chasing the Premium cards thinking it is easily attainable.

At least for now the Premium cards are still exclusive in nature.

Yes, my point exactly with regards to the american express platinum charge card.

Last month, I happened to be in Starhill browsing through watches when I heard a loud outburst from another part of the boutique. It was the boss of a certain airlines whose flight initials begins with AK giving a piece of his mind to the customer service exec of amex because they declined when he tried to charge RM 700k for watch at the shop. In that course of conversation he even threatened to cancel his Amex Plat Charge Card (yes, he mentioned amex plat charge card LOL). Apparently the charge was approved immediately hahaha.

That's the beauty of amex charge card. No pre set spending limit but as they famously stated in their promotional material and brochures "You can spend as much as you have shown us what you can afford". They have what they termed as "shadow credit limit". After the "taruking" incident, the "shadow credit limit" they accorded me is higher than any of my premier cards. Sometimes just knowing you have such spending power makes you feel good. Again, this is for Syiok Sendiri sake la. Hehehe.

Like you, many are offered the platinum charge card but refused since they don't think paying RM 2380 justifies. In these cases, they are most often upgraded to "Gold Charter Member".

You're right. I've checked with him and he said he got his CIMB WMC when he became a CIMB Preferred customer. Before that, he was holding CIMB Enrich Platinum with 15k CL smile.gif

I know one of my colleagues, who is not CIMB Preferred Banking customer, owns CIMB WMC with a CL of RM70,000 only. I saw his statement before as I tried to compare the forex rate of our cards for our overseas trip.

I had the same problem too just a few minutes ago.
Check out your browser's security settings ... probably under HTTPS/SSL or something similar and disable "Check for server certificate revocation". That should solve the problem. (I'm using Chrome ... IE and Firefox should have something similar)

Hi all, currently I'm holding mbb2 cards only with 6k limit which is double of my salary. I didn't have any loan except ptptn 26k. Previously I have a cimb cc with 10k limit but already cancelled during Aug 2011.

Recently, I applied for ocbc n standard charted cc also being rejected.. anyone have any idea? Because they said can't tell me the rejected reason as system didn't state it..
