if your application still get rejected by MBB, then apply for UOB One Card.

If your UOB also unsuccessful, try go apply CC from the bank you took your personal loan or car loan.

*
I already applied to the bank I got my car loan from, unsuccessful sad.gif

bank for personal loan doesn't offer CC

but i've been paying my loans on time sad.gif( maybe miss once or twice but have caught up already..

have filled in the form for UOB online, but have to MAIL my particulars, thought can do online. keep forgetting to post...

Hi,

I'm in dilemma of choosing the right card.

1) I just got salary raise 2months ago, Annual 36k-48K.
2) Yes free lifetime
3) I spend on Petrol, clothes, car accessories , gadgets and grocery. I like cashback, discount, the free things & priorities . Better have installment plan. Last is low interest rate.
4) Public bank classic card, little cashbank and lousy customer service
5) Citibank clear card, Maybank gold 2 Amex, UOB Titanium
6) 1st on cashback, 2nd on discount.
7) Mostly swipe cc on petrol. Depend, sometimes can spend 2k. Sometimes just 500+

I will get 2 best cards and cancel my public bank classic. Better the 2 cards is free lifetime so that i don't need to keep on track how many times i swipe.

Previously UOB & Citibank rejects my application. Don't know why Citibank reject although salary is qualified, one of the operator told me they can't verified my working place & the place i stay. Said no one pick the phone. Scold them why so no brain, house of coz no one pick becoz go to work. Office sometimes away from desk. Like that terus reject? So this time, i am afraid they will reject again.

I have strong feeling to get maybank and citibank because i got maybank account which convenient for me and i always go to Zouk which i dun need get headache on paying cover charge. Is Maybank has better cashback to UOB?

missing payments on your car loan is not good for your credit card application.

seriously, if you can't settle your car loan on time, I don't think it is wise for you to get a credit card because if you do, your CL will be many times higher than your car loan amount. A credit card will 101% make you spend more than you currently do, and if you can't pay in full the outstanding balance every month, and with your personal loan still outstanding, you'll be deeper into debt.

Go get a debit card instead. Check out Public Bank day to day card where you do get cash rebate for petrol and groceries and if you pump at ESSO, get the PBB Esso debit card.

Click here to read my article on Entry Level credit card where I mentioned briefly about PBB Debit cards.

Firstly, all credit card interest rates are high.

Go apply Maybankard 2 Cards and OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

OCBC Titanium MasterCard good for petrol. Maybankard 2 Cards good for weekends spending and has many merchants offering 0% installment.

Click here to read more about cash back cards.

And you were wrong to scold the bank representative because it is a standard/normal procedure for them to call your home or office to verify you applied for the card. This is for your own good too in case people use your name to make application. And if you nobody picks up your office phone, how can anyone verify the info you provided is genuine? They may also call your mobile, and if you don't answer your call, then too bad.

For this point onwards, please use the template when asking for credit card recommendations. It is created for a reason and readers please note that you are asking for free help, so there's no excuse in whatever form for the benefit of personal convenience and gain. If want to have a discussion there's plenty of card specific thread and there is even the CC General thread

Anyone post breaking this rules will have their post automatically deleted. No exceptions in any cases allowed. I have noticed too many breaking this rule and too often.

Thanks for your recommendation. I do aware that the verification call is good. I did ask them why not call to my hp if they can't find me. They said don't know. That is why i get angry.

Since you pump at Petronas, get OCBC Titanium MasterCard where you can earn 5% cash back for Petrol at all stations and also for TElco bills, groceries and utilities. Check out the OCBC thread 1st page to see where you can earn 5% cash back.

Also take a look at Maybankard 2 Cards if you are in the Klang Valley. The MBB 2 AMEX earns you 5X TP everyday and on weekends EXTRA 5% cash back for any type of transactions. Suggest you read Maybankard 2 Cards thread too.

Once again, click the link I mentioned in my reply to owenwong84 above to read more on Cash Back Cards.

I would say the card for you is the OCBC Titanium MasterCard since you spend less than RM1K.
With the card you'll get 5% for your once a month expenses on petrol and telco bill.
For insurance and other transactions you'll get 1% which is better than your HSBC Amanah card.

The OCBC Titanium MasterCard annual fee is waived with 12 swipes like your HSBC Amanah.

Click here to read my article on OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

Since petrol is not on the list, the best returns you can get for general shopping and dining is with the Maybankard 2 American Express where you earn 5X Treats Points AND additional 5% cash back on weekends. But if you do not dine on weekends but you need a card for weekdays, then get the OCBC Titanium MasterCard ( annual income requirement RM36K ) where you will get 5% cash back for your dining bills and minimum 1% cash back for general spending other than groceries. To note, make sure the places you shop accept the AMEX card before you go apply for it.

Bro, also check out my article Entry Level Credit Cards - Which Is The BEst For You? From this link you can go read my article on about Maybankard 2 Cards where I did a comparison with the OCBC Titanium MAsterCard.

Bro, you are right, my apologies for not reading carefully your requirements.

For Petrol, if you pump at Petronas and the amount is a major portion of your expenses, then Maybankard 2 AMEX may not be suitable for you.

You can try OCBC TMC first, but they are kind of strict as many reported that their application was rejected, but then again many of us also have the card. If OCBC rejects your application, then look into UOB One Card, which is the best card if you pump at BHP. The link I provided earlier also have a link to my UOB article, read it and you can see a table comparing cash back cards.
