I think anyone can get gold and platinum easily these days and the perks are almost the same. Go survey around and make your application to those banks with the cards that you wanted and see who reply smile.gif Normally they just send you the card if you're a fresh grad with 5-7k limit I supposed.

Citibank Choice is not a cashback card and you earn nothing for petrol with it.

For more options please go to 1st page and click on my link to my article Entry Level Credit Cards and also the link to Petrol Thread. If your monthly expenses breakdown is kind of constant, click here to Earn Pocket Money with CC thread and click on the link where I gave examples for different spending patterns..

Citibank Clear Card is good if you drink a lot of coffee anyday at Coffee Bean and only watch movies on Fridays with a partner and like Choice Card, it is not a cash back card and you earn nothing for petrol with it.

And Citibank got many promos? You better check if the promo are applicable to you. Click here to Citibank site to see thier promos.. The only place I use my Citibank is at Coffee Bean and Baskin Robins to get discount.

Please refer post above and go read my articles i.e. go read 1st page.

As for CC with low interest rate for installment, many merchants offer 0% installment with MBB cards but nowadays you need RM30K for get a MBB card. CIMB and PBB credit cards do offer installment plans but not at 0% and it is not a standard feature i.e. most have expiry date. CIMB and PBB do have 0% Balance Transfer but the promo is also expiring soon. Ambank currently offer 0% 6 & 9 months installment plan called AMFlexi-Pay but the promo expire on 31 January 2012.

Bro, you quoted wrong reply tongue.gif

Coming back to your requirements, you stated petrol and cash back, both of these requirements eliminate the Citibank Choice and Clear Card. Ask yourself, the free handroll will save you more or 5% cash back for petrol and 2% for telco will earn you more. Also do consider that you have to pay RM50 for GST the following year, how many handroll is that? Well you can offset the GST with 10,000 points with the CB Choice card, which means you got to spend RM10K just to offset RM50. For UOB One Card, you only need to spend RM1K on petrol for the entire 1 year to earn RM50 cash back.

Calculate the amount you can save with the handroll at sakae sushi and at places you can get discount with CB cards, if the amount is more than the cash back you can earn from 5% petrol and 2% telco and 2% at Pharmacy (Guardian, Caring Watsons) and 5% at GSC, then you are right on, go for CB credit card, else look into UOB One Card where the minimum income requirement is RM24K/year.

Better you apply the UOB card first before you cancel your existing cards because banks are now required to ensure your income satisfy BNM guidelines and I got no idea how they process application for those working overseas.

For Airmiles and spending less than RM1K per month, did you read 1st post doh.gif

Take away airmiles, cash back cards for you to consider are OCBC Titanium Mastercard, UOB One Card and Maybankard 2 Cards.
OCBC good if you want 5% cash back for groceries, petrol, utility bills and telco bills. check out this thread to see where you can and cannot earn 5% cash back.

Also click on my signature below on Cash Back or go to first post to read my articles.

Bro, you should follow template in 1st post.

Anyway, click here to read my article on Platinum Credit Cards. In this article I have prepared a table comparing Platinum cards.

From the table - cash back Plat cards are UOB One Card, HSBC Amanah Mpower, Citibank Cash Back and Alliance Bank Plat besides SCB Biz Plat and PBB Plat.

Two important details you failed to provide for me to really understand your requirements and in order for me to recommend to you the suitable Plat card - i.e. monthly expenses and for what type of transactions. But I will give you two options:

Considering that you mentioned about GST in another thread, if you had mentioned you only pump petrol at shell and spend only RM1K/month, no point you get another card because your MBB 2 card good enough (except that you must go pump petrol on Sats and Suns), the Visa actually earns you 1X TP or equivalent to 0.4-0.5% cash returns when redeem for vouchers or use it for on the spot redemption.

But if had mentioned that you like spend RM2K-RM5K/month and need a card for insurance and at places AMEX is not accepted, I will recommend Alliance Platinum MasterCard. Annual fee waived with 12 swipe, earn minimum 0.6% cash back PLUS points (which you can use to offset GST) and unlimited free entry to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge..

Gen X, thx for the info, i think i will opt for the UOB becoz alam damai got 1 new branch there. i plan my spending on amex around rm1k to capped the rm50 rebate. usually 1 month my cc expense is around, total rm3.5k. And i really prefer the KLIA plaza premium lounge. But i heard UOB CS very bad, same like HL. Emmm, Alliance bank, i will try to avoid coz branch not much and so do their ATM.
