Sifu Gen-X, please optimise my cards!

1. Annual Income: >RM200k
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must.
3. Card required for: Petrol, Cash Back, auto-billing (Astro, Digi for wife and I, Tenaga, prudential takaful premiums, sometimes company travelling overseas)
4. Existing credit cards if any: HSBC Amanah Platinum, Maybank Islamic Petronas Ikhwan .
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: I have no loyalty to banks, but need Islamic CC. Also need supplementary card(s) for wifey.
6. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Usually about 2-3k. If travelling, sometimes can go up to 10k. Never carry-over any balance.

Thanks, but thinking of cutting up the HSBC Amanah Platinum in favour of the Maybank Islamix Amex Platinum... 5x TP on Petrol and 2x TP on other retail purchases. HSBC AManah only gives 0.5% cashback on retail (not sure if it includes petrol)

Bro, as alexwsk mentioned for Islamic cards not much choices.

I happen to be at CIMB bank today and there were few girls promoting their cards. So I asked if they got i-Platinum cards and the girl said yes but not shown in brochure and I also did not see it in their website. Why don't you call CIMB CS service and asked if they do have Platinum Islamic card because CIMB Petronas card do earn you 2% cash back and 5% on 1st of every month. And if it is a Mastercard, you can enjoy some of thier promotions too.

As for Astro Digi prudential and others, any Visa and Mastercard will do. DiGi do accept AMEX. Yah might as while get the AMEX card you mentioned and get 2X points which will work out to be roughly 1% cash back instead of getting only 0.5% with HSBC. And AMEX card do earn you points for petrol.

Try apply OCBC Titanium MasterCard and it should meet your requirement. If rejected, then get Maybankard 2 CArds or the new UOB One CArd. Go to Maybankard 2 Card and UOB thread.

1. Annual Income: RM30K to RM36K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: petrol & retail purchase(not only limited to certain merchant like a store card) cashback, better if can earn points at the same time.

4. Existing credit cards if any: MBB Petronas gold card (collecting treats point only, no retail purchase cashback), PBB gold card(nothing much, applied it last time to do balance transfer, going to cancel after finish installment), CIMB Petronas gold card (currently using this card to do al my purchases because they got 5% cashback on 1st of everymonth and 2% cashback other days when u buy petrol in petronas. Other retail purchase i'm not sure how many%, quite low i think, because my statement show lump sum at the end of the month, so i don't know which purchase qualifies for cashback. This card has no points collection like treatspoint. if there's any card better than cimb in terms of cashback and points collection, i'm willing to change.)

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: no preference. as long as good cash back %, can collect points and better if come with other benefits such as airport lounge excess etc.

6. Others: minimal or no fees for overseas transaction. cards that tie with a lot of merchant for more discount, preferably dining.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: RM1K to RM5K

thanks for everyone recommendation.

Additional info : previously used MBB amex and CIMB visa, I left employment for own business in last year but its failed, move myself back to be employed in May 2011. I owned a house paying regular monthly installment and no other debts in hand

Since my credit record is bad and work less than a year, is there a chance to get approved if I apply for card?

Thanks in advance.

How long had you work? You need to provide 3 months payslip since you do not have any credit history.
Maybankard 2 Cards will be the best option. thumbup.gif

Your case are similiar with the previous post by Gen-X.
Pls refer to post #468.

Bear in mind, UOB One card having petrol cashback for RM30 per month only.
After this, u may need to pump using OCBC Titanim or Maybankard 2 cards.

For your case best card would be OCBC Titanium MasterCard and Maybankard 2 Cards.
I don't really know about how banks evaluate their customers but since you got a bad record for CC, that is not good for your application. If you still have your MBB AMEX, then maybe you still be issued the MBB 2 CArds since the CL is shared, but I am guessing, no harm trying to apply tho.

Hi Gen-X,

Thanks a lot for your reply, i have cancelled my cards and now need to get one for business trip purpose. Would appreciate if you could help me on below questions:

1. If i apply CC with few bank at once, would it shown in CCRIS or other credit report of the status and affect the chances of getting approval?
2. Worst case I will ask my brother to get me a supp card from CIMB but will my outstanding accounts affect the result?

1. When your application is being process, yes, it will be shown as pending. Not sure if it will state rejected. Go to CCRIS Thread to ask.

2. Don't know lah since you also need to give your details. But no harm trying, nothing to loose. Technically I would think your brother will be responsible for the account and as such they should approve the supp card.

OPTIONS -

1. Call MBB CS and ask if they can reinstate your previous card or what are the chances of you getting your application approve.
2. Or goto MBB center at 1U New Wing and apply for new card, many people reported that got card approved within 24 hours, so you will know for sure.
3. Worst come to worst, get a Debit card.

Sorry Bro, can't assist you much on your case.

Even HSBC credit card could be rejected in United Kingdom (where its HQ is located at).
