Currently I have MBB2, OCBC Ti, SCB Plat, SCB Gold and CIMB Gold.- TNB, Unifi, Phone bill, Astro around RM400-500 - Groceries (Jusco & Tesco) around RM500-1000 - Petrol around RM200 - others example dining, insurances, cake material, car services around RM500-RM800 for billing i will use OCBC TI groceries & petrol if weekend will use MBB2, else will use OCBC TI, except Jusco will use MBB2 i got 2 more cards are HLB Ess & SCB Biz Plat for other expenses now plan to cut either HLB or SCB, keep which 1 is better? actually got 2 more cards which is CTB CBP & UOB One, plan to cut them next year. Definitely I will keep MBB2 and OCBC Ti. However, SCB is willing to waive my GST and annual fees - so I will keep SCB card too. For CIMB Gold, I just want to keep it to buy good at Airport - because this card has 10% discount. Any comment? |

QUOTE(hooi1983 @ Dec 19 2012, 12:06 AM) my monthly expenses as following SCB, I guess you have not been reading SCB Thread. Click here to read my article Standard Chartered Banks Credit Card Points Redemption Is Simply Ridiculous.. The main reason why those who wanted to cancel SCB cards decided against it is because they accepted SCB's "bribe" (cash back - more than enough to cover GST waiver) in exchanging to keep the card - TNB, Unifi, Phone bill, Astro around RM400-500 - Groceries (Jusco & Tesco) around RM500-1000 - Petrol around RM200 - others example dining, insurances, cake material, car services around RM500-RM800 for billing i will use OCBC TI groceries & petrol if weekend will use MBB2, else will use OCBC TI, except Jusco will use MBB2 i got 2 more cards are HLB Ess & SCB Biz Plat for other expenses now plan to cut either HLB or SCB, keep which 1 is better? actually got 2 more cards which is CTB CBP & UOB One, plan to cut them next year. I guess for you case, your concern is how to maximize the return from the RM500-800 where AMEX not accepted. Well besides HLB Essential base on this spending amount, the only other card I can think of is Mach credit card by Hong Leong Bank where they give you 5% cash back for dining. But since you are currently an existing customer of HLB, you may not be entitled to the first year annual fee waiver. |

QUOTE(bobzaidi @ Dec 19 2012, 07:41 PM) 1. Annual Income: 44k I shall assume you only pump at Petronas so you can consider Maybank Petronas Visa where you earn 5X Treats Points everyday and 8X TP on Saturday and Sunday. But until 28th Feb, you can earn 5X TP too everyday for any type of transaction. Maybankard is accpeted at many places for installment plans.2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Prefer 3. Card required for: Petrol & Installment Plans 4. Existing credit cards if any: Cimb petronas gold 5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Any 6. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Petrol <500 Having said the above, you should consider Maybankard 2 Cards as now AMEX is supposed to be accepted at Petronas. The MBB 2 AMEX is excellent if you can wait and pump petrol on Saturday and Sunday because not only will you earn 5X TP but EXTRA 5% cash back This post has been edited by Gen-X: Dec 19 2012, 08:42 PM |

QUOTE(mar90 @ Dec 20 2012, 12:25 AM) 1. Annual Income: 30k (as stated in payslip) / 60k(basic with allowance) If you are paying income tax on the RM60K income, then your annual income should be RM60K/yr. And if you have yet to submit Borang BE with RM60K/yr income, go ask the bank what documents you need.2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Prefer 3. Card required for: Petrol,Dining,Installment Plans,Toll,Shopping 4. Existing credit cards if any: None 5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Any 6. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Petrol 600-1000, Toll 200-400, Dining+Shopping 1000.... What you guys think? I dont know whether banks will consider my allowance or just look at my basic? So the cards to get are: 1. Maybankard 2 Cards where the AMEX earns you 5X Treats Points everyday PLUS EXTRA 5% on Saturday and Sunday but this cash back is capped at RM50/month. 2. OCBC Titanium MasterCard where you earn 5% cash back for Petrol, Dining, Groceries, Telco bills and Utility bills BUT the cash back is capped at RM50/month. Say you charge RM1K petrol to the OCBC Titanium MasterCard, you will get RM50 cash back per month. But if you charge RM900 petrol and RM500 dining to the OCBC TMC, you still only get RM50/month. 3. The UOB One Card may be good for you since you do pump a lot of petrol, however there is a cap on Petrol too. But with this card, it will free the OCBC TMC from petrol and you can use it for dining and earn 5% cash back and other places where AMEX is not accepted and earn 1% cash back. So with the above cards and if you spend RM2K and above, you can earn up to RM100 per month (or even more) with proper planning plus 5X Treats Points with the Maybankard 2 Cards. And since you are new to credit card, please be warned that you need to have discipline in using it or else you will end up with a big headache if you don't have the cash in hand to settle the Outstanding Balance monthly. Please do not think it may not happen to you because with your income and your spending pattern (even if you are being reimbursed for your expenses), it looks scary. 1. Annual Income: 46k
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must 3. Card required for: Petrol, Bills, TnG, installment, groceries at MYDIN, Cash back 4. Existing credit cards if any: Maybank Petronas 5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Any 6. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Petrol 200, Streamyx - 130, groceries - 250, maxis - 150. PTPTN, 250 per month Hi, Just want an advice regarding what cash back card that suitable for me based on my spending habit. Currently I'm utilize my Maybank Petronas that give me 8TP and 5TP until Feb 2013 if I not mistaken. Since I plan to married next 2 years, which card can give me greater savings or which I can utilize for maximum cash back since I plan to do this item below for next year: 1. Cash back card must accept Mydin for the 5% or whatever max percent cash back that the card offer. 2. I plan to pay my ptptn 3k per month by any CC that can max the cash back by monthly plus bonus of point or any additional benefit an then BT it to any CC that have 0% for 6 months or 12 months. By this way, hopefully I can settle my ptptn loan in one year and get 20% discount on it for full settlement in one year then only concentrate to pay up the BT later on. Thanks, |
