Pleas refer my reply above to sweetmint. Besides the 5% cash back for petrol, you'll get 2% cash back for Telco bills with the UOB One Card and some cash back at GSC too.

FREE gift, sure lah good Got cash back RM150 somemore. And best of all, if not mistaken, for limited time you get 15% cash back for petrol. But please read the terms and conditions. You may want to read my previous article on Standard Chartered Bank Business gold and Platinum Credit Card Review to get some ideas on the T&C. Please note this article was published months ago where the promotion was different then. This post has been edited by Gen-X: Nov 28 2012, 11:53 AM

Like how many months I need to use their service so that I won't be charged for penalty.

You can even cancel the card the very next minute after receiving the card. Some banks will blah blah blah but there's no such restriction to say that you cannot. However, bear in mind the GST is chargeable the moment the card is approved. Many here thinks they want to play the "Free Gift" or "Help me" scenario thinking they can cancel the card, No GST without the card being activated. GST is chargeable the moment the card is approved.

The standard chartered girl told me that I am not eligible to apply, as it's my first credit card application.

It is not the girl's decision/authority to prescreen you. It's their risk management / credit processing to decide. Application qualifier are clearly outlined in any bank's cc form/website/etc in B&W - I don't think any bank list first time applicant to be a qualifier.

So I would recommend Maybankard 2 Cards where the AMEX card will earn you 5X Treats Points everyday PLUS EXTRA 5% cash back on weekends.

Fresh into the workplace and keen to built debt to finance lifestyle - not even having the first salary and want to have credit card. It's not our business to determine what you buy or do in life but we pride ourselves in giving responsible answers. Good luck kid in managing your finances!

QUOTE(deejay220989 @ Jun 13 2012, 02:06 PM) 1. Annual Income: RM36K 2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must 3. Card required for: Overseas Online Transaction 4. Existing credit cards if any: Citibank Gold (Supp) 5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Maybank (I heard their administration cost is only 0.5% while other banks charge more) 6. Others: I buy things from online regularly. Some of my shopping sites do not accept PayPal..so I need a credit card. I thought any credit card will be good for me until I found out that Maybank offers the lowest admin cost. I also read that Mastercard's exchange rate is better than Visa. Read from some threads here. 7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Around RM2k Thanks! QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 15 2012, 11:22 PM) You are on the right track, go apply for MBB2 Cards and use the MC for overseas transaction. And I believe even with the MBB 2 MC x1 TreatsPoints, you still get better benefit compared to your Citibank in terms of points redemption. Hi Gen-X, I'm wondering if OCBC Titanium Mastercard is better that MBB2 Cards, since I get 1% cashback for other purchases which covers the 1% overseas transaction fee. Besides, I can also get cashback for movies/dining/petrol. Please advise. Thanks!
