Annual = 1 year
So it RM xxxx (monthly basic) x 12 months = Annual Income
Well, if your allowance and overtime claims are fixed every month, then you can include. Else, I don't think that's possible.

Based on your income, I recommend that you read my article titled Malaysia Platinum Credit Cards - Which Is The Best For You?

I would say for Petrol, you should look into UOB One Card (Classic or Plat) or Citibank Cash Back Platinum since both earns you 5% cash back at Petronas. However, these two cards earns you miserable 0.3% for general transactions click here to read more about Cash Back cards where I have prepared a table comparing different cash back cards.

Seriously, with RM2K spending and above, you should look into having the Maybankard 2 Cards and OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

Click here to read more about Maybankard 2 Cards - where the American Express earns you 5X Treats Points AND additional 5% cash back for transactions on Saturdays and Sundays.

Click here to read about OCBC Titanium MasterCard - where it earns you 5% cash back for Petrol, Telephone, Utilities, Groceries and Dining. Other general transactions you earn 1% cash back. Only set back is that the cash back is capped at RM50.month.

Come to think of it, since you are new to credit card - you should read all my posts at my blog, hahaha and start by clicking here to My Blog Guide.

And if you watch movies of Fridays, check out Citiabank Clear Card - click here to read my article The Best Credit Cards for Petrol and Movies.

Forget about HSBC. With RM1K spending, you are not going to earn anything from it unless you can win any of their many contests. Citibank Clear Card yes IF go to the movies on Fridays with a partner because you get a free ticket at TGV, GSC and Cathay. UOB - KIV until you're going to start pumping petrol.

In my opinion, for RM1K spending, the best card for you would be OCBC Titanium Master Card

1. Annual Fee waived with 12 swipes a year.
2. Cash Back 5% for Telcos, Grocery, Astro, TNB, Restaurant and the rest 1% cash back.
3. Special bonus by OCBC - spend RM10K/year and the RM50 GST will be absorbed by OCBC.

Recommend you read my following articles:

Entry Level Credit Cards - Which Is Best For You?

OCBC Titanium Master Card review and benefits. Also check out the OCBC Titanium MC Thread by ronnie where it list out all the places you can earn 5% cash back.

And if you do spend your money at Restaurant that accept AMEX and buy groceries on Saturdays and Sundays, consider Maybank Combo Package where you get an American Express credit card together with either Visa or MasterCard. Click here to read Maybankard 2 Cards review and benefits.. Same thing, go check out Places that accept AMEX Thread.

First card to get is the OCBC Titanium MasterCard where you can get 5% cash back for Petrol, your Utility bills (TNB, Water, Telekom and Astro), Groceries and for Dining. Click here to read about the OCBC TMC.

If you are intending to get your new electrical appliances at HSL, Harvey Norman or Courts, then get the Maybankard 2 Cards American Express (click here to read about the MBB 2 Cards) because:

1. You earn 5X Treats Points which works out to be approximately 2.5% returns AND additional cash back of RM50/month if you swipe on Saturdays or Sundays.

2. You can do 0% Installment at HSL, Harvey and Courts and still earn 5X Treats Points. Click here to read about 0% EzyPay with the American Express. You still can use other cards for 0% installment but you won't be getting 2.5% equivalent returns from any other credit cards.

3. If you don't have to purchase all the electrical equipment in one go. use the Maybankard 2 Amex and earn 5X Treats Points, after few days when it is credited into your account, go redeem for vouchers which can be used against payment for new electrical items and balance use the MBB 2 AMEX again and earn 5X Treats Points again. Click here to see an example. And say you swipe RM1K this month on Saturday or Sunday, you will have maxed out the RM50 cash back. Wait till 1st of the following month for your next purchase and you'll once again get to earn RM50 for that month. Do some planing and you will get to earn extra RM50.

but of course if you can get the same appliance elsewhere at a lower price (>2.5%) it would make more sense to go with your existing SCB CC instead of using MBB 2 AMEX at Courts, HSL or HN.

Last but not least, if you go to Harvey Norman, open your mouth and ask "for discount" on every single product you are looking at. You never know, buta buta can save you a lot of money. If you very free like me and know the model number, call up different Harvey outlets and ask and sometime a certain outlet supervisor will give you discount whereas another won't (they will say come over and see and you must say got discount I go lah).

With RM600-RM700 spending a month, what ever points you earn from Citi (exclude Ctit Cash Back Plat) or CIMB won't even be enough to offset the RM50 GST.

The best card for you is Maybankard 2 Cards because you are only paying a single GST for 2 credit cards.

The Maybankard 2 Amex can earn 5X TP and 5% cash back on Saturdays and Sundays for your petrol and 5X TP for your phone bills.

As for Insurance, use the Maybankard 2 Visa or MasterCard which earns you 1X TP (equivalent to about 0.5% returns which is the norm anyway.

Having said the above, break down you expenses and do a comparison with OCBC Titanium MasterCard where it earns you 5% for petrol and phone bills (for your case) and other general transactions 1%. Unless your insurance with GE, then get OCBC GE card.

Read the links I stated in my earlier reply to vinothrao84

Firstly, with your income I wonder if you can get a credit card with credit limit RM10K. Read this thread.. You are eligible for credit cards from 2 banks. Go read first post where I have link to my article on Entry Level Cards.

Universal card - any Visa or MasterCard credit card and debit card will do. But if you want high credit limit, go with American Express charge card.

Bro, go read my article on Entry Level credit cards since you can only qualify for those and you yourself confirmed with above post.

As you mentioned, you need a universal card, any Visa or MasterCard will do (which includes debit card where you don't have any credit limit but how much cash you have). And if you read my article on entry credit cards, I am sure you will find 2 or more cards suitable for your usage which are actually very general i.e. air tickets, shopping and overseas transaction.

For Petrol UOB One Card will be good where you earn 5% cash back; but, for general transactions do note that the UOB One Card only earns you a miserable 0.3%. I guess you should get Maybankard 2 Cards where you can use the AMEX for petrol and air tickets and at places that accept AMEX and earn 5X Treats Points. For places that don't accept AMEX, you still got either Visa or MasterCard where you can earn 1X TP (which is the norm anyway and even better than UOB 0.3% cash back). And best of all, it is free for life (you still got to pay RM50 GST for two cards).
