First card to get is the OCBC Titanium MasterCard  where you can get 5% cash back for Petrol, your Utility bills (TNB, Water, Telekom and Astro), Groceries and for Dining. Click here to read about the OCBC TMC.

If you are intending to get your new electrical appliances at HSL, Harvey Norman or Courts, then get the Maybankard 2 Cards American Express (click here to read about the MBB 2 Cards) because:

1. You earn 5X Treats Points which works out to be approximately 2.5% returns AND additional cash back of RM50/month if you swipe on Saturdays or Sundays.

2. You can do 0% Installment at HSL, Harvey and Courts and still earn 5X Treats Points. Click here to read about 0% EzyPay with the American Express. You still can use other cards for 0% installment but you won't be getting 2.5% equivalent returns from any other credit cards.

3. If you don't have to purchase all the electrical equipment in one go. use the Maybankard 2 Amex and earn 5X Treats Points, after few days when it is credited into your account, go redeem for vouchers which can be used against payment for new electrical items and balance use the MBB 2 AMEX again and earn 5X Treats Points again. Click here to see an example. And say you swipe RM1K this month on Saturday or Sunday, you will have maxed out the RM50 cash back. Wait till 1st of the following month for your next purchase and you'll once again get to earn RM50 for that month. Do some planing and you will get to earn extra RM50.

but of course if you can get the same appliance elsewhere at a lower price (>2.5%) it would make more sense to go with your existing SCB CC instead of using MBB 2 AMEX at Courts, HSL or HN.

Last but not least, if you go to Harvey Norman, open your mouth and  ask "for discount" on every single product you are looking at. You never know, buta buta can save you a lot of money. If you very free like me and know the model number, call up different Harvey outlets and ask and sometime a certain outlet supervisor will give you discount whereas another won't (they will say come over and see and you must say got discount I go lah).
