over the hols period... realised...

#1. really need group chatting feature ASAP...
#2. easier way to select multiple recipients (even if its not group) -- was trying to send holiday greetings and imagine having to go thru the process more than 100+ times... had to copy message, select user, paste message...
#3. volume is too soft for my liking (to the point i can hardly hear the caller)... both speaker and phone's earpiece. hard to hear even after i have set the volume on my phone to the max. this is especially true for speaker. it only happens on viber. with normal call, speaker volume and earpiece volume is fine.

#1 - yep, we know that this is a popular demand. Working on it as we speak, but we still don't have an exact ETA.
#2 - Also planned in the future, and will probably come together with the group messaging option.
#3 - we actually haven't heard of this problem from other users with your device. I'll pass the complaint on and we'll test it and see if we can reproduce it.

@djlah -
We're doing our best so it is ready as soon as possible.
As you know, many fundamental changes were made on ICS (not only visual improvements). In order to adapt Viber to ICS the best way, and make sure we don't release a half-baked app, we need some time for developing and testing.

Our estimation is up to several weeks, but again - we don't want to guarantee anything for certain at this stage.

Once I have any news, I'll keep you posted. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience.

For this one, I believe he meant by Viber voice call is more echo-ish than normal voice call. and the echo voice trumps the real voice.

this happen on Tango also

If both sides are connected to a high-speed internet connection, the signal should be just fine smile.gif
Try it out.

@SoulPower -
Please try removing Viber, wait 24 hours, reinstall and try again (make sure you try both the SMS and the automated call options). If this doesn't help, contact our support team at http://support.viber.com and give them the details of the problem.

QUOTE(Viber @ Oct 12 2011, 04:31 PM)
Viber texts are "stored" (encrypted of course) in our servers for up to 2 weeks only if they are pending delivery to the destination user. Once the recipient got the message, it's immediately deleted from our servers.

If the destination user is online and received the message, it's never stored in our servers even for a second.

Added on October 12, 2011, 11:47 pmHi everyone,
We are excited to announce that the long-anticipated Viber 2.1 has just been released to AppStore and Market!

Among the new features:
- A whole new sound codec, offering higher voice quality, better support for Viber calls on 3G networks and interrupted internet connections.
- Photo sharing inside Viber text messages.
- Viber text messages are now location-aware, meaning you can share your current whereabouts with each and every Viber message that you send.
- Viber now supports iOS5.
- Viber now supports Landscape mode.
- And many more new features and bug fixes.

Should you have any questions regarding this new version or about Viber in general, please do not hesitate to ask.
the Viber Team.

Could Viber send a wrong location, when someone clicks on the 'location' button (triangulair image) in the 'text input window'? My girlfriend activated this 'location' thing (accidentally, I guess) and when I checked afterwards, it showed her 'normal' location (her work place), but she claimed she was somewhere else at that time (8 hours drive away from there, in a very small village, where there was maybe no good way for Viber to find the exact location, so it might have sent the last one known - in cache, or so).

Would help me a lot to find out if she's speaking the truth...

Its not Viber, its the phone itself....sometimes the location stuck at the last place , sometimes phone reboot needed to fix this

Viber just take the location from the phone

hmmm... i tot if GPS is turned on, it should have fairly accurate info, no? unless the location was taken via phone network, which may not be so accurate...

but i'm what happens when no GPS and phone signal... and only landline broadband...

even when GPS radio is turned on, it would not activate itself all the time, it will only activate if there is an app that requires a GPS location (maps, 4square etc)

GPS would cache the last location presumably to allow for faster fix. GPS needs a few good seconds to get an accurate fix (provided you have a clear view of the sky, no interruption like roofs etc) i am not sure how viber's locating system works, but to get an accurate location, viber have to set a an argument for the gps to get a full fix(or accurate within 100m) before recording the location info for it to be more reliable. personally, i do not really use this feature, so i am not sure how good it is tongue.gif

i noticed that after i click 'exit', then viber disconnect and disappear from my phone's notification bar.. but then, less than 5 minutes, it automatically connect back again on top of it.. why is it like this? no one msg me also at that time. and when i use the voice call by viber thru wifi, the opposite person cant hear me clearly and said that my voice is so soft. i have already adjust to max the mic.. .

Hi all,

About GPS inaccuracy - indeed, as mentioned above, Viber uses the phone's native GPS abilities in order to send/receive locations. There may be a slight margin of error, depending which tower captures your location. viber has no control of this. The information received by the tower is then displayed back to your device within Google maps. The margin of error may be 1 to 100 meters +/-. Within large populated areas, with stable state-of-the-art GSM capabilities, the location awareness will have a greater accuracy.

@mydragoon -
Please make sure both sides have the latest version of Viber installed.

@Hico -
About the first problem - please try to uninstall Viber then reinstall (from Market). Does the problem persist?
About the soft-volume problem - it sounds more like a problem with your friend's device, not yours. What device is he using? Is he using a Custom ROM?
Also, did HE make sure his volume settings are all the way up?

Hmm....
This might be a problem specifically with your phone.

What device exactly are you using? which version of Android, and are you using a Custom ROM?

mine is same like hico. tested between sgs2 and note. sometimes other party is just upstairs, in the same house/ wifi network. previously no problem. only started recently on one of the new updates.
