mine is same like hico. tested between sgs2 and note. sometimes other party is just upstairs, in the same house/ wifi network. previously no problem. only started recently on one of the new updates.
*

this is true actually, before the latest update(which was months ago), everything was fine n dandy even on long range calls (i call my friends from europe, china, aussie with my 1mb streamyx). I reported the problem directly to their support team via email and they say it is fine on their end. they did say that the next update would be more stable so finger crossed! biggrin.gif

@Viber how does the location info works? does it search for location actively(via real time cell tower triangulation or via GPS)? or does it do this passively(via last cached location data)? thanks! icon_rolleyes.gif

About the soft volume Viber calls on Galaxy - please test our upcoming version 2.1.3 (coming to Market soon) and let me know if the problem was resolved on it or not. We implemented some fixes for Galaxy and hopefully that will solve the volume problem you are describing. Thanks smile.gif

@azrash -
Viber uses the phone's real-time abilities to determine your location. Viber does not use GPS, it uses the triangular 3G services when you are connected to 3G, and WiFi location abilities when connected to WiFi.

Hi Viber Support,

I supposed this fix also include all galaxy device? Actually I have also noticed some issues and just posted on your web as below :
"I am using viber with galaxy S2, when i use my wired headset, my friend complaint to me the volume is way too soft. I have verified and checked that there's no problem with my phone (with sound recording, replay back was loud without viber, and even tried with another headset), even normal call with headset is loud and clear. I believe this is a bug on viber and some user complaint this before, please advise support?"

I am not sure if this headset issue is similar to what you have fixed in 2.1.3?

Apart from that, I have few bug reports & suggestions:

1-sometimes when i launch viber, it's hanging for a while, before allowing me to message, this happens randomly and gives me the impression that the program is not optimized, or unstable. My S2 is unrooted set ,and believe many users also reported this. Any fix planned?

2-sometimes when a user goes offline, and i sent them some pic(Android to Iphone) ,after they came online, and they are unable to retrieve the pic, only see a grey camera box, why?

3-suggestions:
A-please add option to select different viber message and calling tone, possible?
B-any plan for releasing group chat, video call? this will be good enough to kill off Tango and Skype smile.gif
C-for sharing of image, can please add more option to allow user to send anytype of file, let's say let user to browse via astro file manager and choose any file they wish to send?
D-existing foto sharing is good , but please add in also option for zooming the foto via pinching.

Hope to hear from you soon, thanks for the great piece of software, hope to hear Viber keep improving!

We have responded to your S2 headset problem in the other forum where you responded smile.gif

About the other issues:
1. We actually haven't encountered this report from other users, at least not frequently. Try isolating the problem but testing it right after a reboot of the phone, with no other apps running. Does it still occur?
2.The photo delivery issues are known to us, but the specific scenario you described could be helpful to our support team in order to replicate the problem and hopefully fix it. Please report it here: http://bit.ly/ukGVJ0
3.
A. this feature is under development smile.gif
B. Group chat is currently under development. Video calling is certainly on our list, but unfortunately we still don't know when exactly it will be ready.
C. We are considering to add an option to send just any file, but this also requires securing those files (so people won't use Viber to send malicious things), and so it could take more time than usually expected. Once we have news on that, I'll keep you posted.
D. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll take it into account smile.gif

Thanks for all your reports and suggestions. We're really happy to see users like you, who are involved and contributing. This is how you can make a difference and help us shape Viber according to user demand smile.gif

this is the exact issue that i reported to the Viber team via email and this started to happen in Viber 2.1.2, the version before that was a smooth sail.

@Viber it'll be great if you can make it easier for end users to provide feedback directly to Viber, perhaps a feedback section under 'More'. I am sure more users would be able to provide valuable feedback to you guys nod.gif keep up the great work! thumbup.gif

edit: it'll be great if the viber team can wotk with the dev of this app to solve this issue, thanks! http://code.google.com/p/callmeter/issues/detail?id=514

Thanks for the suggestion. Currently we prefer keeping our support to the users personal and "frontal", meaning we reach out to forums and blogs, and also wait for users to come to our Facebook page and very public HelpDesk. It is common that using this method makes users look for existing solutions first, and only then turn to contact us. So it's a win-win situation wink.gif

@more69 -
Still working on it, and we hope that the next version will be compatible (but we can't guarantee it at this stage). Stay tuned for news and updates on our Facebook page or HelpDesk (or you could check back with me here, of course).

Hi Viber and members,

Need help. I am using Viber and yesterday, I got to wipe phone data. I reinstall Viber and problem.

I verify through SMS and worked well. After 5minutes, error pop up saying Viber deactivated and need to activate back. Did the SMS and no SMS received. Tried phone call and same thing.

I car data, cache everything and still problem. I check my phone number and realized it is not + 60. Regardless how many time I change to + 60, it will randomly change to anothernumber.

Please help.

Hi @nicregi -
Please try to remove Viber completely from your phone, then reboot it. Wait a few hours then install it again from Market/AppStore. Now when you are asked to type in your number, choose Malaysia and enter your phone number in its Malaysian format (don't type in the "+60", because that's already accounted for in the country code you chose above).

Is it working now?

What device exactly are you using?
If it's Android, which version of it, and most importantly - are you using a Custom ROM or not?

Hi @stevenlee -

At this stage, 1 Viber number can be assigned to only 1 device simultaneously. This means that registering Viber on 2 different devices requires 2 different phones to receive our SMS with code or the automated call. This means that your phone and your Tablet will have different Viber identities (numbers, essentially), so collision between them is not possible

Unfortunately, you'll have to find another phone number (for example - your home number) in order to register Viber on your Tablet.

In the future we plan to allow the option of having the same Viber number on multiple devices, but it's still quite far away. Once we have concrete news on that, I'll let you know smile.gif

Hi support,

I am using the latest version found on market. Tried to reinstall, delete, wait a few days and none is working.

Test with both Stock and Custom ROM, both giving the same issue. A few common issues are:
1. I select Malaysia (+60) and after sometime, it will auto change to another country randomly.
2. After manage to activate, phone will get deactivated again and Viber will prompt a message saying that the device has been deactivated and would need to reactive back. I only using 1 number on 1 device FYI.
3. SMS or call code given is not working (probably because my country code is changed automatically for some funny reason by Viber app).

What do you advise? I am assuming that Viber database is storing my number wrongly which causes this. Can't think of anything else besides this problem.

Thank you for the detailed information, it's very helpful in understanding the problem.

About the deactivation -
Please check your IMEI number (universal device identification number) inside the phone's "About" page. Once you found it, please compare it with the real IMEI number that's written on the back of your phone.

Some custom ROMs override the original IMEI you had when you received your phone, and this is the cause to the deactivation problem. We plan to provide a fix for this issue soon (Viber 2.1.3) by collecting all the problematic IMEI's from our users, and manually whitelisting them. If you'd like to make sure yours is also included in the list, you can let me know what IMEI is written in the "About" page, so we make sure it's going to be included in our fix.

About the random changing of the registration number -
In order to check this, we'll need the actual numbers (there might be a bug causing the number to alter). If you want, you can send me your real number in private message, and then also a few different examples of what the number changed to.
