this is very odd, after updating to the latest version (2.1.2) the app seems to hang. navigating to the Messages tab and other tabs requires more than 2-3 seconds. I have tried uninstalling and installing it again to confirm the issue is not related to other factor. I hope a workaround is in the work right now because it was smooth like butter before.

p/s: my friend is using SGSII is also facing this issue. So this might not be an isolated bug after all.

even when GPS radio is turned on, it would not activate itself all the time, it will only activate if there is an app that requires a GPS location (maps, 4square etc)

GPS would cache the last location presumably to allow for faster fix. GPS needs a few good seconds to get an accurate fix (provided you have a clear view of the sky, no interruption like roofs etc) i am not sure how viber's locating system works, but to get an accurate location, viber have to set a an argument for the gps to get a full fix(or accurate within 100m) before recording the location info for it to be more reliable. personally, i do not really use this feature, so i am not sure how good it is

this is true actually, before the latest update(which was months ago), everything was fine n dandy even on long range calls (i call my friends from europe, china, aussie with my 1mb streamyx). I reported the problem directly to their support team via email and they say it is fine on their end. they did say that the next update would be more stable so finger crossed!

@Viber how does the location info works? does it search for location actively(via real time cell tower triangulation or via GPS)? or does it do this passively(via last cached location data)? thanks!

this is the exact issue that i reported to the Viber team via email and this started to happen in Viber 2.1.2, the version before that was a smooth sail.

@Viber it'll be great if you can make it easier for end users to provide feedback directly to Viber, perhaps a feedback section under 'More'. I am sure more users would be able to provide valuable feedback to you guys keep up the great work!

to update on my previous issue where the app hangs for a while when going to 'messages' or 'viber','all' in contacts. this bug is gone in the latest app! thanks for fixing this! this is one of my biggest gripe with the previous update, as the update before that was a smooth sail.

have not tested audio quality yet, would report back my finding later on

I have tried both, between those two, I find that Viber has a much better audio quality (noise cancellation etc)

would like to update my experience with the latest Viber. made a few calls to my friends in China and there is no more jitter or lagginess in the call! and this is only on screamyx 1mb. so to the Viber team!

hello Viber team, first of all congrats on the latest update. it has improved a lot

However, the send location info is still buggy. When I enable it, it sent out my yesterday's location which is roughly 8km away. this is when GPS enabled. Perhaps this can be improved. maybe by adding 'refresh location details' option under 'menu' in conversation so that Viber will try to get the latest location from gps or tower details

yeap because I left the location "yesterday" and arrived to the new location on the same day. and when i used the app to get "today's" location, it sent out yesterdays's one. what fixed this was to actually load up Google Maps until it get a satellite fix. and all this was when the sky was clear though, i was outside when i used the location feature

hi guys, I just heard that Whatsapp does not encrypt their chat on Android and iOS, I tried the Whatsapp Sniffer app and to my surprise, I could read messages of people connected to the same wifi.

now that that is being said, does Viber encrypt the messages as well? it is pretty scary that Whatsapp transmit them in plain text.

@Viber, can we have an option to disable notification sound and vibration for messages? it saves a lot of battery for us who don't rely on them. Thanks!

depends, on complete idle, mine is around 14MB, when i am messaging, it is around 32. not sure about calls though

also, the app freezes a lot on the nexus 4, you can see the feedback that is specific to nexus 4 in the play store reviews.
