Offer lapse date: 29th February 2012.
Means  on the 29th is the last day to pay initial fees or today is the last day?

you should create a group or a page on facebook for Alumni for school of informaition technology or computer science. In that way we can interact better and faster. btw im having a hard time choosing a uni. between INTI, taylors and Monash. Since youre an alumni for Monash, i will be greatly appreciated of your feedbacks towards monash. smile.gif

Hows your first class in bachelor of comp science? i received an offer letter already. but still thinking.
*
haha i dun think i have the time to manage it...

anyways from a personal point of view...
i kinda like how the course is handled...
most ppl have the wrong perception about comp science and i think monash really stresses on what comp science is about...
its not about coding or using software only but about understanding how things related to computers works and how they can be used to solve problems...
these are the basic which will help u in the industry especially adapting to their systems or their requirements...
think of it as physics for computers =p
and yeah, there is a lot of math involved at higher level (the math without numbers lolx)...
it really annoys me when ppl have a wrong misconception about comp science especially thinking it is a course for drop outs...
it is quite a difficult course and tat is why we are highly sought after (u can see lots of studies showing it as a top10 major in the world especially salary wise)

the selling point for a monash course in BCS is mostly the name itself which is valuable in MNCs as well as the industry ties...
after all, it is a internationally recognized uni with a campus here rather than twinning program etc...
overall i think the lecturers are ok and some are really really good (though my fav lecturer have left the uni to go back France)...
the resources with the uni is aplenty! you have access to so many databases and you get support from monash australia etc which made the education experience kinda complete... i have frens from other colleges who dun have access to journals/ databases which they require to do a proper research on =.="

Any seniors selling 'engineering your futere,an Australian guide' ? 2nd hand one. If got pm me leh. I see no point for getting a new book.
*
lol I don't recommend buying this book...It is quite useless. If you need to read sections of the book as prescribed by the lecturer, then its better to just go to the library and find it there. You don't even need to read the parts the lecturer asks you to read as I remember it wasn't anything useful. But if you really want to, feel free to get the book tongue.gif

I literally didn't listen in lecture, and studied off powerpoint slides 3 days before the exam and I got D so yeah tongue.gif

Monday was algorithms lecture, great so far. Very interesting way of mixing maths and logic to solve problems and the lecturer is a friendly British guy who got lost  sweat.gif

Today was discrete maths. I always found math rather boring by itself and the lecturer is very Asian. Since no tutorial for math today I ended up having to chill for 6 hours before my next class.

Last class of the day was computer programming lecture. I'm so glad I took computer science class in pre-u because Java looks quite similar to what I learnt there so I was able to understand everything and recap a bit. The lecturer though made the class enjoyable. Very quirky.
haha. good information. thanks for sharing. smile.gif
im enrolling today. biggrin.gif

I was a pure science student as well. But I took accounts in my foundation year.
Microeconomics is the basic of the basics. Since it's a core subject, they will teach you from the beginning as if you don't know a single thing about economics. I've never know what economics was all about but this subject wasn't that hard. You just have to understand the concept, draw the graphs and you'll be fine. wink.gif

I have a question here...you have done microeconomic assignments right? For the source of article...must we use the journals provided in lib? The main purpose of having those journals are for assignments one right? Or we can google up our own articles?
Someone plz enlighten me

Ps: forgot to ask my tutor just now sweat.gif

You can google but most of the journals you find online will only give you the summary or the preview of it. Cause these journals are not free for all, you have to pay to get the full version. Basically most of the journals that you can find via google, you can also find on monash library database. The database also has Google Scholar which I find quite useful at times. smile.gif

I was in the book store buying my programming book and decided to pick up the Mankiw only version of the ECW1101 book. I wonder what the advantages are of buying the more expensive version of that book?

Decided to buy it and I was reading it in the library. What I read is in the same order as my first lecture so I feel it will help a lot. It is also pretty interesting.

FIT 1029 - Dr Simon Egerton
FIT 1002 - Mylini Munasamy (lecture), Radi Jarrar (or something like that for tutorials)
MAT 1830 - Dr Foo Lee-Kien
ECW 1101 - Dr Poon (dunno the rest), Sharon Koh
