The registration is still on going for students with common Pre-U. No worries, there will be an Orientation Catch Up Session for those who missed the O Week.

thank you so much for your quick response! smile.gif
I will be heading there tomorrow to give my full transcripts. Hope i wont miss too many class.

But i thought have to wait for like a week for them to see if there is credit exemption or not. Cos for taylors also like that, cos they have to send the transcripts to RMIT too. But decided not to go Taylors.

BCS have around 17-18 students this sem if i am nt mistaken...
it is quite a good number cause it is rare to get BCS students in most uni since honestly, it isn't an easy course lol...
this sem was much better than when i was taking BCS back then lol...
we had like just 10+ and quite a number of them swap to BITS after going through FIT1008 lolx
*
So youre an alumni of BCS from Monash or counsellor?
btw I just applied for this course but waiting for offer letter with credit exemption how long i have to wait. (aprox 1-2 weeks)
So will miss some classes. Btw what are the percentage of people getting honours degere for this course?

and is the coursework mark 50% assignment 50% exams?

for comp science, u are technically floating in math n logic...
everything can be explained and modeled as a set of functions/ equations...
and most of the time, our math dun have numbers in it...

programming i have answered in the pm =p

you should create a group or a page on facebook for Alumni for school of informaition technology or computer science. In that way we can interact better and faster. btw im having a hard time choosing a uni. between INTI, taylors and Monash. Since youre an alumni for Monash, i will be greatly appreciated of your feedbacks towards monash. smile.gif

Monday was algorithms lecture, great so far. Very interesting way of mixing maths and logic to solve problems and the lecturer is a friendly British guy who got lost  sweat.gif

Today was discrete maths. I always found math rather boring by itself and the lecturer is very Asian. Since no tutorial for math today I ended up having to chill for 6 hours before my next class.

Last class of the day was computer programming lecture. I'm so glad I took computer science class in pre-u because Java looks quite similar to what I learnt there so I was able to understand everything and recap a bit. The lecturer though made the class enjoyable. Very quirky.
haha. good information. thanks for sharing. smile.gif
im enrolling today. biggrin.gif

haha i dun think i have the time to manage it...

anyways from a personal point of view...
i kinda like how the course is handled...
most ppl have the wrong perception about comp science and i think monash really stresses on what comp science is about...
its not about coding or using software only but about understanding how things related to computers works and how they can be used to solve problems...
these are the basic which will help u in the industry especially adapting to their systems or their requirements...
think of it as physics for computers =p
and yeah, there is a lot of math involved at higher level (the math without numbers lolx)...
it really annoys me when ppl have a wrong misconception about comp science especially thinking it is a course for drop outs...
it is quite a difficult course and tat is why we are highly sought after (u can see lots of studies showing it as a top10 major in the world especially salary wise)

the selling point for a monash course in BCS is mostly the name itself which is valuable in MNCs as well as the industry ties...
after all, it is a internationally recognized uni with a campus here rather than twinning program etc...
overall i think the lecturers are ok and some are really really good (though my fav lecturer have left the uni to go back France)...
the resources with the uni is aplenty! you have access to so many databases and you get support from monash australia etc which made the education experience kinda complete... i have frens from other colleges who dun have access to journals/ databases which they require to do a proper research on =.="
*
wow. very very good elaboration. this is just what i need. smile.gif
i'll be enrolling today. biggrin.gif
thank you so much for the good information. Greatly appreciated! smile.gif

Yeah, 10am is totally full. Aiya, wake up early, get a nice parking lot (if you drive la tongue.gif).

Lectures for MAT 1830 don't appear for some reason. Course Management told me to waitĀ  sweat.gif For the rest, they should appear, if not wait a while. My lectures appeared after a few days except for MAT 1830.

MUTTS is to check the timetables for individual units to see if your electives clash with your core subjects.

For today the discrete math was ok for the first lecture. for the second one i go blank d. so confusing. D:
btw where can i download the notes?

i added you in facebook. btw i got some credit exemption since im from diploma. But i want to refresh my programming knowledge again can i attend the FIT1002 Computer Programming class without taking the exams or assignments just random show up at the class when i have exempted for that subject? Is it ok if i do that?

since u have a diploma, i think u should know all of it adi =p

Hmmm enrollment mostly to get u used to the campus as well as monash's system such as my.monash, moodle, WES, allocate+ etc...
*
ok cool. but i think i should get a book to refresh my memories, do you know any good books?
oh that stuffs im not too sure about the monash's systems. But i saw in the IT department the windows placed a note about Orientation Catch Up day on the 8th of march if im not mistaken?

There is another thing i wanna ask. When i paid for my tuition fees, i says RM16500. Meaning 4 subjects right? But what if i paid for 4 subjects but i only took 3? will the one subject in the next sem tuition fees be deducted?

hey i need some help in the back substitution method in euclidean algorithm.
For Example,
Finding the gcd of 81 and 57 by the Euclidean Algorithm:
81 = 1(57) + 24
57 = 2(24) + 9
24 = 2(9) + 6
9 = 1(6) + 3
6 = 2(3) + 0.

p(a) + s(b) = r

3 = 9 -1(6)
3 = 9 - 1(24 - 2(9)) = 3(9) - 1(24). I dont understand how from the red goes to blue.
3 = 3( 57 - 2(24)) - 1(24) = 3(57) -7(24). i also dun understand where the 7 come from. :/
3 = 3(57) - 7( 81 - 1(57)) = 10(57) -7(81).

Please help anyone. Really appreciate it.

from red to blue, jz expand the equation...

think of 9 as 'a' and 24 as 'b'
a - 1(b-2a) = a - 1b + 2a = 3a - 1b
thus it is 3(9) - 1(24)

the rest is the same adi
