Can I ask?

Im planning on getting a DSLR soon and I've decided to go for D7000. Question is as im new im and not even sure what focal length of lens i need.

Currently thought of getting

Nikkor 18-200 VRII (for travel all rounder) + Nikkor 50mm 1.8G(for indoor low light and portrait)
also please suggest a speedlight that I will need =)

I most probably will shoot streets photography, portraits and travel memories pictures. So are the combination above necessary appropriate?

I will be most grateful if any1 can suggest a cheaper alternative of what I "need" for my purpose stated. Please advice ^^
*
Also I came to realise that the 18-200 VR II has lens creeping problem. So might wanna look for other lens perhaps a shorter focal length but also suit my needs?

Need advice here icon_question.gif

The new 18-200mm VRII already 'fixed' this problem. There's a lock switch to prevent creep. It is the first version had the creep problem.
You can check if the 18-200 is 1st or 2nd revision by looking at the VR logo. One is red colored the other is gold colored. not sure which is which.
I think the new is gold if i'm not mistaken.

The lock only applies at 18mm focal length so that it won't creep when u hang the dslr on ur neck. But it still creep... I find this out through some YouTube videos. Correct me if I'm wrong...

ya correct, but it is not that bad actually. I have a friend using it he say the problem does not happen all the time and his unit is quite fine. Or maybe his is still new. hehe.
Also, i dont think there's any better 18-200mm lense out there .. smile.gif

the nikkor 18-200mm IQ & AF speed is pretty gud except at the wide angle (distortion).

It doesnt have to be 18-200mm. Im actually looking for alternative but within the price range of equivalent to 18-200mm VR II as well covering my needs. But im pretty sure that I will get thr 50mm 1.8G already.

Same, I don't like 50 on APS-C, somehow it gives the feeling that "not there yet".
